Ribs neighborhood has joined
the Excelsior Fiddling Band
and was sworn in Saturday
night. Hereafter when the

Ellick Hellwanger is making
rapid strides in his attempt to
win the hand of Miss Gondola
Henstep, as he reports he mov-
ed his chair two feet nearer
her on last Sunday night.
Christopher Columbus has
been made famous this week
at the Wild Onion school house
by Prof. Sap Spradlen, who has
delivered several talks in his
favor to the scholars- Nothing
much Is known of Columbus in
this place except what can be
gained from histories and other
books.
The old Miser, who lives near
the persimmon tree on Musket
Ridge, is preparing to dig up
his money Sunday and count it-
He believes it will be safe to do
this while everybody is at
church.
Dock Hocks, our enterprising
blacksmith, went to the post-
office the other day without
first washing his hands and ac-
cidently canceled several stamps
the postmaster had on sale.
Jefferson Hocks, who has
been deal in both ears since the
sawmiii boiler blew up wh.le he
was repairing it, is now getting
better, and says he can plainly
hear thunder by standing up
close to it.
Frisby Hancock claims to
have a gun with the longest
range of any in this viccimty.
Tuesday he shot at a hawk sit-
ting on a huy s^ac: pole and
wounded a cow over near Rye
Straw, live miles away. He did
this as a test of fie long dis-
tance his gun could shoot, and
before ring it ie marked all

Luke Mathewsla shot at a
fine owl in the Gimlet CreeK
bottoms a feew days ago, but
just as the gun went oil the owl
closed his eyes and squatced
down, allowing the shot to go
over its head. Luke, not to be
outdone, says he then aimed
low, but the wise bird this time
raised up a little and allowed
the shot to pass under it-
Tobe Moseley has set a lot of
mink traps on Gander Creek,
and is furnishing the postmas-
ter with ear muffs this winter.
TheTViail Carrier's horse was
run over and badly skinned up
by the buggy it was hitched to

Miss Fruzie Allsop looked
pleasant at Atlas Peck at
church last Sunday, but it is
believed the smile was only sKin
deep.
Fit Smith says the greatest
disappointment he knows of is

Under and by virtue of au-
thority conferred by the Con-
stitution and laws of the State
of Oklahoma, and pursuant to a
resolution adopted and approved
on the 4th day of December,
1916, proclamation is hereby
made and notice is given that
on the 15th day of January,
1917, a special election will be
held in Francis Township, in
Harmon County, Oklahoma, for
the purpose of submitting to the
qualified electors, for this pur
pose, of said Township, the
question of issuing bonds of
said Township in the sum of
$4,000.00, to provide funds for
the purpose of constructing
certain bridges, such bridges to
be numbered and located as fol-
lows:
No. 1 at a point 400 feet West
of S. E. corner of Sec. 13, T. 6,
N. R. 25 W. I. M.
No. 2 at a point 3600 feet
West of S. E. corner of Sec. 13,
T. 5, N. R. 25 W. I. M.
No. 3 at a point 3050 feet
West of S. E. corner of Sec. 18,
T. 5, N. R. 25,W. I. M.
Said bonds shall bear interest
at the rate of five per cent per
annum, and shall become due in
fifteen years from their date.
The vote shall be by ballot,
and said election shall be held
