The Stillwater Public Library was founded in 1922 by the Stillwater Woman’s Club and opened in 1923. It has grown over the years to encompass a 54,400 square foot facility. Librarians maintain the tradition of providing book collections and informational programming, with the addition of the latest technological services. Since 2016 the library has been developing its archives and now has a room devoted to that purpose which holds books, documents, and photos. The main focus of Stillwater Public Library’s Special Collections is local government and the history of civic organizations ranging from nationally known groups like Rotary to local writing and gardening clubs.
