by Cuticura.
"For two years my neck was cov-
ered with sores, the humor spreading
to my hair, which fell out, leaving an
unsightly bald spot, and the soreness,
inflammation and merciless itching
made me wild. Krieuds advised Cuti-
cura Soap and Ointment, and after a
few applications the torment subsided,
to my great joy. The sores soon dis-
appeared, and my hair grew again,

Excuse Made on Spur of the Moment
a Model of Ingenuity.
There was a man In Atlanta who
once suspected a negro in his employ
of tampering with the contents of his
wine cellar, especially with a certain ,
brand of flue whisky. The employer ;
decided to adopt measures to verify j
his suspicions. He allowed the clenii
john holding his "private stock" to
become em^ty, then, instead of refill-
ing it, he placed his pet brand in bot-
tles, labeling each one "poison."
One evening on returning home un-
expectedly he caught his servant ''in
flagrante delicto." Seizing the bo'tie
from the darkey's hand, the Atlanta
man exclaimed in a tone of teiior,
"Great heavens, Sam! Do you know
what you have been doing? This bot-
tle is marked 'poison!'"
The negro took the bottle and sur-
veyed it closely. Then he sniffed at
it. A melancholy smile flitted over
his dusky countenance. "'Tain't pi/en,
sail," he said dejectedly, "lse been
fooled ag'in."
"Fooled again?" repeated the mas
tor, indignantly. "What do you mean.
"Well, sab," continued the darkey,
in the same tone of depression, "it am

*ND CONSIDER THE
ALL-IMPORTANT
FACT
Little Daughter Scored.
A woman who is at the head of an
organization of many thousands of I
women and who is known throughout j
this land and in many European coun- !
tries tells this story about herself. 1
Her young daughter is not as much
impressed with the sense of her moth-
er's importance as she might lie, and
when the mother returned one day
from a feminine conclave at which she
had been the central figure and feted
and bowed down to for a week the girl
asked:
"Dili you have a really truly gowl
time, mother, and was everybody just
as nice as he or she could be?"
"Yes, everybody was lovely. I really
enjoyed myself," was the reply.
"Well, now that it is all over, hon-
estly, wouldn't you rather be a plain
old mother than any kind of a presi-
dent?"
"There wasn't but one reply for me
to make to that question," says the
storyteller, "and my little daughter
scored that time."
That In addressing Mrs. Pinkham you
are confiding your private ills to awoaiau
B woman whose experience with wo-
man's diseases covers a great many years.
You can talk freely 1" a woman when it
is revolting to relate your private troubles
to a man besides a man does not under-
stand—simply because he is a man.
Manv women suffer in silence nnd drift along
from bad to worse, knowing full well that they
ought to have immediate assistance, but a na ura
modesty impels tlu-iu to shrink from exposing them-
selves to the questions and probably examinations of
even their family physician. It is unnecessary.
Without money or price you can consult a woman
whose knowledge from actual experience is great.
Mrs. Piuklinm's Standing Imitation:
Women suffering from any form of female weak-
ness are invited to promptly communicate with Mrs.
l'inkhaui at Lvnn, Mass. All letters are received,
jpened, read .'and answered by women only. A
woman can freely talk of her private illness to a
woman; thus has bee* established the eternal
confidence between Mrs l'inkhaui and the \v
of America which has never been broken, t
of the vast volume of experience which she
has to draw from, it is more than possible
that she has gained the very knowledge
that will help your case. She asks not.li-
ingin return except your good-will,and her
advice has relieved thousands. Surely any
woman, rich or poor, is very foolish if shef
does not take advantage of this generous
offer of assistance. — Lydia E. Piukliain

Eat in Privacy.
Apparently our best chance of se-
curing a long and healthy life is to
eat once a day and wear as few
clothes r.s possible. While, on the
other hand, we liave been told during
the past week or so that a meal a
day is the royal road to longevity, a
well known doctor has been advocat-
ing the practical abolition of clothes
for dinner. Obviously our best course

Good Joke on Office Holder.
When President Roosevelt was
hunting in the Big Pasture last spring

him an office. Abernathy had never
mixed in Oklahoma politics, and it
was easy for liim to get letters from
members of all factions, saying that
he was a good fellow and that 'ibey
would like to see him on the federal
pay roll. Among others who indorsed
Abernathy was W. 1). Fossett, United
