court martial which tried Brigadier
General John Chase of the National
Guard of Colorado and found him

Board of Pardons placed Itself on rec-
ord yesterday afternoon aa l*dng unan-
imously In favor of capital punishment,
the death sentence of Harvey King,
convicted of murdering his wife at Col-
orado Springs, was commuted to life
imprisonment at hard labor
King wanted to die and refused to
ask clemency at the hands of the
board, but his attorneys and his eon.
"Buddy" King, a prize fighter asked
for a reprieve or commutation on the
ground that the law proclaiming cap-
ital punishment for murdir In the state
