Teddy Joe Bivins, 24 929 NE 8, told police officers C.L. Posey and H.J. Bradshaw he and a companion were driving along Lake Overholser drive Tuesday night when they saw a parked car in front of them. BIVINS TOLD the offers he saw a couple "necking" and "turned off my lights so I wouldn't disturb them." Before he turned back on his lights, he mistook a bare spot in the road for a roadway, and turned off. His Cadillac ended up 60 feet from the river bank. A passenger in Bivins' car, Earl Harris, 34 of 830 NW 12, was either thrown out or jumped from the car as it ran down the embankment. HARRIS WAS treated for a back injury, Doctors at Mercy hospital said it was aggravated by a previous back injury. Between gasps, Bivins told police he and Harris were cruising in the area looking for a group of people they were to meet. The exact spot was near the North Canadian river bridge on NW 10. Bivins said he was going about 15 miles per hour when he went over the side. "I didn't realize I was going over until it was too late to stop. I couldn't even put on my brakes," he said."
