Abstract: Another centennial being celebrated in 1987 is the birth date of Jim Thorpe, the Olympic gold medal winner and the man voted the "best male athlete of the first half century." Carl Sadler, also a native of Shawnee, offers a short photographic tribute to one of the Oklahoma's best known favorite sons.
