Through the years from the very beginning of home
economics the major goals have focused on (1) improved
family life with the development of potential for each
family member.- (2) on training for good citizenship
for this is the ultimate goal of all education stemming
from the roots of worthy home membership. (3) the de-
velooment of skills and attitudes also the establishment
of good standards as well as sound values. (4) the spot-
light has been directed toward better ways of teaching
home economics and ,he rays have reflected through the
planning of programs to meet the demands of a rapidly
changing world. (6) the focus on the discovery of new
knowledge in home economics through research and experi-
menta4tion combined with creativity has set the stage
for curriculum revision and new learning experiences to
implemen- the accomplishment of overall goals.1
