Abstract: In May 1943 the first German prisoners of war arrived at Camp Gruber located near Braggs, Oklahoma. Despite their incarceration, life at the camp was an improvement over conditions in the German army for many of the PWs. Trent Riley describes life in the PW camp at Camp Gruber, as recorded by the men who experienced it.
