Abstract: In the early years of the new century, communities and individuals across the nation will commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the Korean War. Many of the units engaged in the conflict were federalized state national guards. Penn V. Rabb, Jr. looks back at the organization and history of western Oklahoma's regiment, the 179th Infantry, and at the men who proudly and honorably served the people of the state, the nation, and the world in times of peace and times of war.
