Beard Oil S Gas Co Drill Into Heavy
Gas Flow In The Vici Test
Great excitement has prevailed
this week over developments at
the oil well Eirly in the week
' a large flow of pas was struck
and drilling was stopped until
the memLers of the company
were notified and a decis on
made whether to bring it in as
a gas well or case it off and go
on don after oil- Members of
the company arrived Wednesday
and it was decided to go on
down after oil all indicators
being so favorable for making a
strike This morning arrang
men'ts are being made to put the
well on down
Mr Peard Field man for the
Qompnny said: “We struck a
splendid flow of gas and espec-
ially for that depth At first we
were undecided whether to
bring it in as’a commercial gas
well or go on down but consid-
ering the fact of the distance to
a pipe line and atsa the fact
that what the people 'want and
what we want is an oil well so
have decided to put the well on
down Piot Cona'd who has
worked with me for years and
who recently came here and
made a personal examination of
' the location for me told me we
would hit this gas flow and it
was struck within eight feet of
the depth that he had set He
also said an oil sand would be
found' a short depth below this
gas This is one reason we are
going on down with the well
and if by any possibility we do
not strike anything to pay lower
down we will come back up and
open up the gas”
There seems to be no question
but what a large flow of gas
has been found which would pay
as a commercial well and under
ordinary circumstances would
be so used but the log of the well
has shown up so favorably and
all the geologist’s reports have
been bourne out by it that the
men who are at the head of the
proposition are absolutely satis-
fied that they can bring in an oil
well at a very reasonable depth
To be sure an oil well is
rather an uncertain proposition
at best and especially a wild cat
test but as far as human mind
can judge there should be no
doubt that they are setting a-
bove an oil pool and the com-
pany have faith enongh in it to

evening was spent in singing

ward County was down Tuesday
looking after some business
pertaining to his office We en-
joyed a visit with himwhile here

Of course the people of the
town and community are feeling
good over the prospects and are
planning great things All we

Mr Thomas informs us that
the Fordson Demonstration was
a great success A large num-
ber of farmers were in and well
pleased with the pictures The
pictures were run Friday night
for the benefit of those in town

plete marble cutting outfit will
be put in and they will be pre-
