SCHOOL MEETING
I A meeting of the voters of Dis
trict 37 will he held on Thursday
Jan nary ‘2nd at 5 P M to con-
sider ways and means for carry
ing on the school for the balance
of the current term
Owing to the antagonism of a
certain elemem of the rate payers
of the District be tax levy for
the ensuing year was defeated
through the influence of certain
persons who were not interested
in the continuance of the schools
Although these persons were
residents of the city of Chant
and therefore taxpayers of same
they were not interested in the
school foT1 one of two causes
First:— they had no children to
attend school or second they
resided outside of the school dis-
trict and were provided for as
far as schools were concerned in
their own district and although
their business connections and
livelihood were in the Chant Dis-
trict opposed the tax and thus
excluded the children of those
from whom they obtained their
living from obtaining an educa-
tion equal to that of their own
children
All that tin friends and sup-
pm lei s of the Chant School ask
is that they have an equal cliai c
with lli j adjoining schools
The duty of every taxpayer
and his wife is to attend the
meeting called by the hcliool
Directors and to vote for sucli
measurers as will benefit their
children through the District
board of education
Therefore you fathers and
mothers of District 37 make
your presence and influence felt
at the meeting which has been
called by your board of Direc-
tors A Taxpayer
