No Evil Effects From 200000
Volts Through the Body
New York Dec 13 — Among
the wonderful sights to be eea
at the electrical show which
opened in Madison Square garden
last night was tte high fre-
quency current tests made by
Prof Earl L Ovington in thq
lecture hall By the use of this
current it is possible to pass
200000 volts through the human
body without any evil effect
The ordinary current used in
Sing Sing to kill a man is 5000
volts alternating current al-
though 3000 is considered suffic-
ient Last night Prof- Ovington
said:
“The ordinary alternating-
current of electricity is a vibra-
tory form of energy which oscil-
lates so slowly that it affects our
senses If this same current is
made to vibrate faster there will
be no effect upon the sensory
system This is actually what
the high frequency apparatus ac-
complishes” In the first test one lamp was
held against the professor’s fore-
head and the other against one
leg They became brilliantly-illuminated-
In the next ex-
periment Prof Ovington allowed
Dr DeForest to transmit a wire-
less message through bis body
to an operaorat the other end
of the garden
