follows s
One hand half of my face and half
of my tongue would get cold and numb
These feelings would come on last for
about ten minutes and then go away
several times a day Besides I would
have palpitation of the heart and my
strength would get so low that I could
hardly breathe As time went on these
spells kept coming oftener and growing
worse The numbness would sometimes
exteud over half my body”
IIow did you get rid of them ?”
‘‘It seemed for a long time as if I never
could get rid of them It was not until
about six years ago that I fouud a remedy
that had virtue enough in it to reach my
case That was DrWilliams’ Pink Pills
for Polo People uud they have since en-
tirely cured me”
“ Did it take long to effect a cure ? ”
"No ! I hadn’t taken the whole of the
first box before I saw a great improve-
ment So I kept on using them growing
better all the timeuutil I had taken eight
boxes and then I was perfectly well and
I have remained in good health ever
since with one exception”
What was that? ”
Oh I that was when I had the grip
I was in bed under the doctor’s care
for two weeks When I got up I had
dreadful attacks of dizziness I had to
grasp hold of something or I would fall
right down I was just miserable and
when I saw the doctor was not helping
me I began to toko Dr Williams’ Pink
Pills again In a short timo they cured
mo of that troublo too and I have never
had any dizzy spells since”

EXPERIENCE SPOKE FOR HIM
Boy ' Remembered Recent Use to
Which Nose Had Been Put
When Horace started to Rchool ho
had a cold It had been with him
most all winter consequently he had
come to regard his nose as the very
keystone of his existence He was
Btill doing some pretty tall sniffling
when called up for his first recitation
The lesson with which he was in-
troduced to the life studious dea’l
with that complex and Incompro
sensible' subject “Boy” The teach-
er being a woman possessed of an
analytical mind believed in getting
right down to first principles She
not only taught the component parts
of the word "boy” but bewildered
Horace with sundry questions con-
cerning the boy himself She tweaked
Horace’s ears gouged his eyes and
made sportive jabs at his lips aud
mouth inquiring the while what the
various organs indicated were called
and what were their functions
Horace In spite of bis nervousness
acquitted himself creditably and h
would probably have got off with “A
plus” if the teacher had let his ndse
alone Unfortunately she attacked the
offending proboscis and asked:
"And what is this called?”
"By dose” gasped Horace thickly
"And what Is it for?” she persisted
And Horace Imbued with an hon-
esty born of innocence and long suf-
fering straightway responded:
"To blow”
Naughty Richard’s Prayer
Mrs Gertrude Atherton the author
ess tells of the tribulations of t
friend In New York who is the mothei
of a particularly mischievous boy ol
some seven years
"One evening recently” says Mrs
Atherton "when the mother was get-
ting the boy ready for bed after what
she termed a day of unmitigated out-
rageousness on the part of her hope-
ful she said to him:
“ ‘Now when you say your prayers
to-night Richard remember to ask
God to make you a better boy You
have certainly been bad to-day”
According the youngster began his
petitions to the Almighty in the usual
form Before closing with the cus-
tomary “Amen” he added:
"And please God make me a bet-
ter boy"
Then he paused a moment and to
the utter consternation of the long-
suffering mother he concluded his
prayer witS unabated gravity:

In the Bureau of Sewers
William II Michales superintend-
ent of tho bureau of sewers of New
York said the other day:
“We hear some strange things in
this office sometimes Some of the
stories our inspectors bring to us are
hardly credible
"For instance in the matter of
Ignorance of the most elementary
kind of sanitation:
"An inspector went one day to In-
spect an old house in the country
There was a good deal of smell about
the old place Tho inspector walked
iboht sniffing? '
“‘Dear me’ he said ’what an un-
pleasant odor Can it be the drains?’
?‘The owner of the house shook his
bead positively '
"‘It can’t be the drains he said

that would he helped but i found to
my relief that I soon began to mend

Suffered From Catarrh of Kidneys
Threatened With Nervous Collapse
Cured by Pe-ru-na
Mr P B Richards 609 R Street N
W Washington D Ct War Corres-
r indent writes: ‘‘Exactly six years ago
wan ordered to Cuba as staff corres-
pondent of the New York Sun I was in
charge of a Bun Dispatch boat through
the Spanish American war The effect
of the tropical climate and the’ nervous
strain showed plainly on my return to
the states Lassitude depression to the
verge of melancholia and incessant
kidney trouble made me practically an
invalid This undesirable condition
continued despite the best of treatment
Finally a brother newspaper man who
like myself had served in the war in-
duced me to give a faithful trial to
Peruna I did so In a short time the
lassitude left me my kidneys resumed
a healthy condition add a complete
cure was effected I cannot too strong-
ly recomtned Peruna to those suffering
with kidney trouble To-day I am able
to work as hard as at any time in my
life and the examiner for a leading in-
surance company pronounced me an
"A” risk”
n Poor Health Over Four Years
Pe-ru-na Only Remedy of Rea! Benefit
Mr John Nimmo 215 Lippincott St
Toronto Can a prominent merchant of
that city and also a member of the
Masonic order writes:
"I have been in poor health generally
I lor over four years When I caught a
bad cold last winter it settled-in the
bladder and kidneys causing serious
trouble I took two greatly advertised
kidney remedies without getting the
desired results Peruna is the only
remedy which was really of any benefit
to me I have not had a trace of kidney
trouble nor a cold in my system” -
Pe-ru-na Contains No Narcotics
One reason why Peruna has found
permanent use in so many homes Is that
It contains no narcotic of any kind
Peruna is perfectly harmless 1 1 can be
used any length of time without acquir-
ing a drug habit iVruna does not pro-
duce temporary results It is perman-
ent in its effect
It lias no bad effect upon the system
and gradually eliminates catarrh by
removing the cause of catarrh There
are a multitude of homes where Peru na-
il as been used off and on for twenty
years Such a thing could not bo pos-
sible if Peruna contained any drugs of
a narcotic nature
