such cities as Stillwater, with air-

to obtain economic, efficient service
for mail, passengers and express.
“We could not -come into Stillwater
and Ponca City at present without a
guarantee of business volume,” Reed
said, “and that would not be profit-
able to you now. We do feel that
the time is not far off when we’ll be
flying a route out of Stillwater, how-
ever.”
Municipal airport is entirely ade- ;
quate for the needs of Stillwater in
the immediate future, Reed said.
Like Fight for Roads
Reltive to future development of
municipal airports, Bill Lewis, ’assis-
tant attorney general of Oklahoma,
described the bill now being prepar-
ed that will place a privilege tax on
interstate flying, the revenue to be
handled by the state highway depart-
ment and used for improvements,
such as concrete runways, on muni- ,
cipal ports, without expense to the
citiesinvolved.
Fletcher Riley, justice of the state
supreme court, said, “Just as you
realize the importance of highways
now and make every effort to have
them routed through your cities, so
will you in the future wage the same
fight to be included on the air high-
ways. Progressive towns are look-

guests of note—all of them interest-
ed in the future aviation develop-
ment of Oklahoma.
It was Aviation day for the Agri-
cultural capital, the purpose being
to revive interest here in aeronautics
and to discuss and study the prob-
able future of the newest and most
rapidly-growing means of transpor-
tation.
The guests arrived shortly before
noon, appeared before the student
body of Oklahoma; Agricultural and
Mechanical college in special convo-
cation, then dined with the largest
turnout of business men held here in
several months. Christian church
banquet room was crowded for the
occasion.
Look to Reed Airlines
Apparently Stillwater’s aviation
future, as concerns passenger, mail
and express service by air, lies with
the Reed Airlines, of which Joe Reed
of Lawton,, is president. The lines
now operate between Wichita Falls,
Tex., Lawton and Oklahoma City.
Reed said Friday that the future
of short line aviation, to serve as
feeder service for the transcontin-
ental lines, hinges about efforts to
obtain contracts for handling mail on
the star route basis. If such con-
ing to the air traffic dividends of the
time to come.”
James Green, district traffic rep-
resentative of United Airlines, big-
gest aviation company in America,
flying planes from coast to coast, de-
scribed the notable increase in air
travel in recent months, August of
1932 showing 129 per cent increase
over August, 1931. Air travel is
here, he said. “Get Reed airlines if
you can in the near future. If you
don’t somebody else will.”
Post Hasn’t Much to Say
Wiley Post, Oklahoma City, who
flew the “Winnie Mae” around the
world, spoke briefly. “I don’t know
much about that flight,” he said. “I
