The next witness to tesify was
Laverne McGuire, Eldon
McGuire’s wife of 29 years. She
said the last time she spoke to
Brown was during a telephone
conversation January 25,1988.
She testified Brown called
about 10 p.m. and both she and

City.
On cross examination, Box
asked Laverne McGuire if any-
thing was stolen from the house
and if Brown had ever threat
ened her or her husband before
January 25. She answered no to
both questions.
Jeff Kinslow testified that he
had known Brown for 30 years
and had grown up with him. He
said Brown called him in De
cember 1987 and talked about his
life. Kinslow said Brown was
tired of running and was lonely
and missed hisfamily.
Kinslow said he and Brown
talked about his trouble with the
law, and Kinslow said he offered
