A candidate for political office, Milburn Jay
Adams, has chosen to persecute me and my family
inorder to attempt to gain a few votes by telling half
truths in an obvious attempt to deceive the public. In
November 1975, when I was 23 years of age, upon the
recommendation of the District Attorney, I received
a suspended sentence and paid my debt to society;
and have been since that time a family man, and a
productive citizen of this community.
I was forced to trial by the District Attorney even
though I had a witness who could clear me, if he
could be located. The witness was not found until
after the trial.
When new evidence by this witness indicated that
a new trial should be granted, I was faced with the
large expense of another trial and no money to hay
for the trial. I decided it would be better to accept
the suspended sentence than to take food from the
table of my family. Time has shown the wisdom of
Judge Maher's decision in granting me the
suspended sentence. The state and the county were
saved a lot of money. The best interest of society was
served.
The office of District Judge requires the highest
degree of open handed fair dealing. The people of
Grady and Caddo Counties need this type of person
in a position of such high trust.
If you or any of your loved ones should ever be in a
situation similar to mine, I am sure you would want
a person of the honesty, compassion and sense of
fairness as Judge Maher to decide your fate and
future.
