Cuaio is gaining every tlay,
A vote for Barker is half a vote
for Smith.
1* Ba rk er and his friends are so
anxious to defeat Smith, why don't
be withdraw?
Jt?8T why Oklahoma parents
should scud their children to colleges
and seminaries in other states, when
Oklahoma has just as goftd schools,
is a conundrum too hard for us to
crack.
Candidates of any party who un-
dertake to trade off other candidates
on their ticket for votes for them-
selves are unworthy the respect or
Confidence of the voters of their own
party or any other. Spot all such.
The Voice says Barker will run 300
votes ahead of his ticket. If he does
so, he must do it at the expense of
the balance of the ticket. What can-
didates on the populiat ticket are the
Barker men getting ready to trade
for Barker votes?
"Wiierk is McKinley's prosperity?''
asked the editor of an Oregon demo
eratic paper in a long article, and the
local department answered it on an-
other page in two lines; "There is not
in Baker county an idle man who
wants to work."
John Allan predicts that he will
get 1000 votes it Cleveland county
as middle-of-the-road candidate for
Congress. There is just about as
much truth in Miat prediction as in
his claim tiiat the sheriff's race is
between Smith and Barker.
The disguise worn by the Tran-
script editor, and some other lead-
ing (?) republicans of Norman, who
always boost their own candidate
publicly and aid George Smith secret-
ly, is too thin a mask for a political
hall Such rank double-dealing as
that would show, even through an
iron mask.— Peoples Voice.
Whenever Jack Allan and Jack
Peterson and the rest of the jacks see
that their cake is dough and theii
nominees beaten, they get down to
falsehoods. That, indeed, is the only
thing left to them. The a£tve is a
sample. At no time and trHder no
circumstances has the editor of tflie
Transcript advocated one tiling and
done another, and it dares the editor
of the Voice or any one else to desig-
nate time and piace and circumstance.
Nor does he believe any other lead-
ing republican in the county has
done so.
The desperation of the populist
leaders grows more and more appar-
ent. No candidate of their party in
this county has ever been elected
without the aid of republican votes.
This is true of Newblock and Stow
and Wails and Duffy and all the rest
of them. They are therefore loath
to let go the teet to which they have
been attached so long, and will re-
sort to any means, fair or foul, to re-
tain their hold. They declare that
republicans have no rights which
they (the pops) are bound to respect.
Republicans, let us prove to these
schemers that they can no longer use
us as a football. Our votes for their
candidates have never been appreciat-
ed. Let us line up for our own tick-
et., and demonstrate our indepen-
dence.
Remember, a vote for Barker is
half a vote for Smith.
Two years ago the Populists traded
every and any old way to secure the
election of Newblock and Stow. N.
T. Pool and A. T. Ross were the- vic-
tims.
Republican*, don't believe'he re-
ports put in circulation by the Voico
and populist strikers, that some re-
publicans in the county are talking
for Cra'.jr, but will vote for Smith.
And do r>ot beleive that Craig will
withdraw at the last moment—a re-
port also circulnted by the same
parties. Such reports are absolutely
false. Vote for Craig and tbe en-
tire republican ticket.
A vote for Barker is half a vote
for Smith.
Boru Jay Sherman and R. E.
Leach, republican candidates for the I —11
legislature, are ia favor of a law that THE GHOST
will give witnesses and jurors, in jus- Qf our boyhooa resolved itself to an old
tice and district courts, a fair re-
muneration for their attendance.
The present law, which takes witness
es from their work and gives them
nothing, is an outrage.
Two jears ago about this time
Tom Jarboe told the Guthrie Leader
man that Cleveland county was sure
to give Keatjii 800 majority. It
gave Fl\ nn about 100 majority. The
same gentleman is now predicting a
majority in Cleveland of from 500 to
700 for Neff. Tom is getting to be
almost as bad as Br\ an as a prophet.
Gov. Roosevelt was greeted by
an enormous crowd at Lincoln, Neb.,
on Tuesday night, reliable estimates
putting it at 45,000. It was the
greatest ovation given him on his
trip, not even excepting Kansas City,
where 10.000 people welcomed him
in Kansas City, Kansas, and 25.000
in the big convention hall of Kansas
City, Mo. All along the line of L'i
march in Lincoln the streets were
jammed VMih humanity, and contin-
uous roar of cheers from start to fin-

The independent voter will be
much in evidence this year. We
would respectfully ask their consid-
eration of the republican ticket and
a comparison with the opposition

of them a capable, upright, honorable

It seems to us that a man should at
least gain a residence in Oklahoma
before running for office.
At 1 he beginning of the campaign
Geo. Smith and his strikers impressed
upon the voters: "If you cannot vote
for Smith, vote for Craig." But a
change seems to have come over the
spirit of their dream. It is now:
•'M 30U cannot vote for Smplh, vote
