Ultimate Agreement As to
the Friar Lauds Is As-
sured—American Note
to the Vatican.
Rome, June 24.—There is no
doubt that the negotiations of
Judge Taft with the Vatican re-
garding the disposition of the
friar lands in the Philippine Is-
lands will end in success of the
Amerioan] proposals in ali eason
tial points. Representations of
serious hitches are denied, al-
though diversity of opinion re
garding details has developed, thus
prolonging negotiations.
Judge Taft to-day presented an
other note to Cardinal Rampolla
precisely indicating the Amerioan
wishes, and asking for a oategori
cal reply thereto.—[Dallas News.
