erland to Colorado last week.

the home of W T Hodson since Satur-
day of last week.
A. I. Montgomery is threshing al-
falfa seed for J. M.Simmons at his
farm east of town.
Mrs. Geo. W. Morris and two sons
left Monday evening for a month's
visit at Alton, Kansas.
J. W. Smith, J. A. Fulkerson and H.
F. Watkins went to Guthrie last Sun
day in Mr. Fulkerson's Reo auto.
David Koehler, a brother of Thos.,
has rented the Vierheller farm. Ho
recently came from Ness county, Kan-
sas.
Earl Smith, carrier on Route 1 is
taking a 15 day lay off and Johnny
Melcher is now carrying the mail in
his stead.
L. Feely swapped Registered Jersey
hulls the first of the week with F. M.
Sharp of Medford. The animals were

D W Waroock was raising a lister
a few davs ago when the lever slipped
out of his hand striking him in the
breast breaking some ribs, which
have beeii very painful.
Last Saturday in conversation
with W. 15. firett, we asked him what
lie would take for his two farms which
are adjoining. He answered, "This
season has not discouraged me. It
will take $20,000 to get a deed for
them.
The stork left a fine boy at the home
of Chas. Fielder late Monday night and
to even up matters took his (light to
the home of E. R. George early Tues-
day morning and left a sweet little
girl. Mr. George was very much
pleased as bis other three girls are all
boys.
While H. M. Pierce was living at his
father's they only took one copy of the
Star but when the younger man went
to Colo., Mr. Pierce, the elder told us
to have the Star sent to him as the
family would not hear ot having it stop
corning. He emphasized his order by
handing us a dollar of our "dads."

Harry Lloyd, of McAlester, Okla ,

A B Ginter the engineer at the mill
is the busiest man in town getting
everything ready to start the Oklaho-
ma Princess.
Sherman Buffalo, who is in the au-
tomobile business in Anthony, Kan-
sas, brought his wife and child down
in an auto to see the reunion.
Capt A Fleming arrived last Wed-
nesday from Los Angeles and left foi
Little Hock, Ark., taking with him
big supyly of Dr Hazelton's system
tonic and pink tablets.

to relieve Mrs Akers who has been
nursing her daughter, Iva Akers, who
has been very sick but is improving

which he will take with him to his new
location at Foraker.
Cecil Roup is hired to teach the
Star school this season. She will re-
turn from California in the near fu-
ture. Her many friends here will be
glad to learn of her complet«*ecovery
from her critical condition of last fall
and winter.

A special meeting is called for Mon
day, August 24, in Harmony, Prairie
Queen, Garfield, and Riverside dis-
tricts for the purpose of trying to ef-
fect a consolidation.
We believe in abolishing the law
demanding requisition papers in or-
der to capture a criminal who llees
to another state. An officer with ser-
vice papers should be permitted by
national law to arrest a person char
ed with a crime anywhere in the I'ni-

A little excitement was started Sun-
day in the shap of a fire which was set
in the stubble field of the Hartshorn
place by a Santa Fe engine. A crew
of section hands and a few neighbors
had a warm time for awhile.
Chris Eulberg's engine set fire and
burned three stacks of bound grain
for Curt Evans Tuesday as they were
pulling into thresh them.
An automobile carrying five men
were purporting to be the forerunners
and route picker for the Kansas City
Star Automobiling Club, on its way
from Kansas City via Wichita, Ok-
ahorna and other places of iuterest,
when three miles north of Clyde Mon-
day evening had the misfortune of
break the rear axle of the machine
which necessited a wait of a couple of
a couple of days for repairs.
