We believe that Marble City is
on the verge of one of the most
progressive moves eve1 known in
her history All that is needed to
keep the ball rolling is the united
efforts of the citizens There should
be no factions Every citizen should
see that every improvement made
enhances the value of all property
in the town Our city should be
one big family With a united
pull for everything its accomplish-
ment is made easy Envy jealousy
and hatred are things to be despised
Envy is a canker that gnaws at the
heart and makes folks sour and un-
happy Hatred doesn't pay even
from a sordid point of view
Getting at Statehood
Washington D 0'May 2
Leaders of both house and senate
have practically reached an agree-
ment that action on the statehood
bill shall be taken immediately after
the fOWlif thd“ sonate "on” the rail-
road rate bill The understanding
today is that the vote on that meas-
ure will be taken May 10 if not at
an earlier date With the rate bill
out of the way statehood can be
brought up without further delay
one of the house leaders who has
been closely identified with every
step in’lke progress of the statehood
bill predicted today that the con-
ferees would report that they had
been unable to reach an agreement
Teat then the houso would vote to
concur in theaction of the senate
relative to the amendments to the
Oklahoma Indian Territory sections
of the bill with the other amend
meats to the conference committee
If thisplan should be followed
Oklahoma and Indian Territory
would get statehood and statehood
legislation for Arizona and New
Mexico would be postponed until
next session The feeling in both
house and senate now is that State-
hood for Oklahoma and Indian
Territory is assured — New Stale
