Published at Marble City Indian
Territory every Saturday morning
Entered as Second Class matter

at the post office at Marble Indian
Territory under the Act of Congress
of March 3 1870
Sallisaw has six drug stores and
as the “lid on” ordinance of that
place permits them to remain open
on Sunday the town is not such a
tight one after all
James Rich a former resident of
Tahlcquah but who has been mak-
ing his home in Sallisaw for a few
years we notice from the Marble
City Enterprise will soon build and
go into the mercantile business in
the city of Marble Jim is a lino
business young man and we wish
him success — Cherokee Advocate
We see by the Sallisaw Star that
our neighboring town of Sallisaw
is talking about building an up-to-date
opera house This is a good
move and one that should be pushed
along It will help the town and
Sallisaw is big enough to support a
good one Get in the collar boys
and build it If you decide to
build with a gold medal marble
front we can furnish the goods
There is one young man in this
neighborhood that we have never
known to do a day’s work since we
came here nearly three years ago
This young man evidently has a
great fortune but does not know it
Any man that can produce a receipt
for living without work would do
well to put it on the market That
it would take like hot cakes there
can be no doubt and that the young
man we have in mind possesses this
receipt we are equally certain
Lot sales here arc improving as
the work proceeds at the quarries
and a pleasing feature of the matter
is that they are selling at an advanc-
ed price over the early spring prices
It requires no great stretch of the
immagination to sec in Marble City
one of the coming towns of the
southwestern country and those who
are familliar with the conditions
here are taking advantage of the sit-
uation before it is too late to get
the benefit of low prices in real estate
The firm of Easley A Kimmel
was dissolved this week by mutual
consent of the parties Mr Easley
leaving the business and Mr Kim-
mel taking charge Since the for-
mation of the partnership these gen-
tlemen have enjoyed a nice business
and have many fine orders for mon-
uments that will be filled as soon as
the saws are started at the quarries
and the company is able to furnish
the marble suitable for the work
During his residence here Mr Kim-
mel has made many friends who
congratulate him upon his success
in business and wish him abundant
prosperity in the future
The editor of tho Westville Amer-
ican is responsible for the following
artiole about his town and country
and yro presume it is right if a fel
low feels that way but to us it
seems like a waste of energy to
write a boom1 article about your
town and then end up by pouring
cold water on it:
“Tho country around it is still
under the grip of restrictions to a
great extent and this is a great
draw Jbaok This however will
soon pass away and then this coun-
try will reach the full moasuro of
its development It is destinod to
have a grent future because its nat-
ural advantages are such as will
make it so Here’s to tho future—
u cold water future let us hope
