Applied to bad feet it removes all odor instantly and per-

toughens the skin. No Smello is harmless in every way.
We have found it excellent for removing the odor of per-

First Type Setting Machine Ev-
er Brought to Geary Now
In Operation
The Journal is proud to an-
nounce to its' readers this week
that we have Just installed a
Mergenthaler Linotype (typeset-
ting) machine in our office and'lt<n8 2
that we are having a deuce of a PetteeB 2
time getting the animal to steer
to suit us. What the whole
Journal force knows about lino-
type machines could be printed
in the advertising spaces used
by the leading merchants of
Geary during the past few weeks
without crowding the space. We
are having to figure the thing
out for ourselves and as a result
we have put in most of the time
figuring and have neglected the
paper this week. We are quite
aware that we are omitting a
number of important news items
and we are going to ask you to
bear with us for a week or so
until the new machine lias time
to become acclimated to the high-
ly spiritual atmosphere of the
Journal office, after which we
promise you the best newspaper
Geary has ever had—no excep-
tions. 1
A linotype machine is related
to the old style method of set-
ting type by hand in just about
the same way that the modern
six-cylinder motor car is related
to the plow horse. Our partic-
ular machine is not. the biggest
nor the fastest machine built,
but is both large enough and
fast enough to answer our needs
for a number of years yet. Once
we get the machine acclijnated
and our operator has time to
"work up" speed we will be able
set when necessary about three
times as much type as we ever
were able to by hand, not to
mention the time and labor
saved in a hundred other ways.
Meantime if you never have
seen a linotype machine in oper-
ation we shall be glad to have
you call and inspect the machine,
and ask only that you kindly re-
frain from using profanity near
the machine as we know from
experience that this invariably
makes it stop nad meditate—
which delays the operator and
spoils the editor's temper.
P.S . To help things along
this week, our gasoline engine
got a pain somewhere in it's an-
atomy Weednesday morning and
cost us more precious hours.

Geary 2; I tens 0.
The game here last Sunday
between Geary and the Iten
club can be briefly summed up
in three words— too much Mast-
ers. Lefty Master's, who did
the pitching for Geary, had the
best of the argument all the way,
allowing the visitors only two
hits and fanning 12 men. Harr,
another new pitcher worked for
thel tens and put up a creditable
game, stopping the locals with
four hits. The Geary lineup
was considerable shaken up.
Squires was out of the game on
account of sickness, as was Cur-
tis also. Dillon was shifted to
the middle garden and Stanley
played at right. At short a new
player, Welch, appeared and put
up a good field game, although
he appeared a bit weak with the
wac club.
It was a well played game and
Geary's victory was clean cut.
Shawnee and El Reno both won
their games, leaving Geary tied
with Shawnee for the top of the
league, with El Reno in second
place. Next Sunday Shawnee
playes at El Reno and outcome
of this game will be watched
with interest. Should El Reno
win and the locals defeat the Pet
tee club here, Geary will be at tli
top.

A group of Geeary ladies re-
turned the latter part of last
week from Pond Creek, Okla.,
where they went to attend a
house partly given by Mrs. L. L.
Fees, formerly of Geary. They
report a delightful trip, and say
fche only thing that marred the
occasion was the fact that their
hoostess, Mrs. Fees, was ill prac-
tically throughout the week.
Tli£ party arrived Tuesday eve-
ning and on Wednesday after-
noon Mrs. Fees, gave a reception
in their honor, that was a vet
elaborate and enjoyable affair.
On Thursday afternoon the visi-
tors were entertained' by Mrs.
M. L. Thomas, with a porch parts
that was as novel as it was en-
joyable.
Friday morning the ladies were
shown tlirogh Pond Creek's new
high shoo! building, which is
described as being one of the
finest in the state. The build-
ing contains 20 rooms and cost
40,000. The building is modern
and has beautiful g rounds.
The ladies expressed tthe great-
est enhtusiasan over this school
building and already have vis-
ions cf a similar onee for Geary.
The visitors state that the
Fees' are doing well in Pond
Creek; thatMr. Fees has a big
store and a good established bus-
iness; that they have recently
purchased them a ten room resi-
dence and are in all way prosper-
ous.
The party was composed of
Mesdames. J. H.D iUon, W. H.
Mesdames. J. H. Dillon, W. H.

T. C. Black and Henry Ringel-
man, of Geaery, Mrs. Bunchan-
nan, of Shawnee, Mrs. Wilson

ing in Kansas, and Mrs. Riingel-
n.an who was visiting at King-
fisher, joined the party at Enid.
They returned home Friday eve-
ning.
