Geo. Washington who lives
southeast of Talala is reported to
have raised one of the banner crops
of oats that has been raised in this
county. It has been reliably re-
ported to us that he thrashed 3210
bushels of oats from 39 acres, an
average «f 82 1-3 bushels to the
acre. Now if any one has a reli-
able oats story to tell bring it in
and we will be glad to publish it.
Mr. Baxtar, of Pilot Point,
Texas, an old time friend of Mr.
A. E. Streeter is in Talala for a
visit at the A. E. Streeter home.
Mr. W. Wheeler of Grulely Kan.,
has bought the 50 acre farm be-
longing to the Gazette editor and
intends to make Talala his perma-
nent home. Mr. Wheeler is an
auctioneer of 16 years experience
and will make it handy for people
in" this community when in need of
a man to cry their sales for them.
And we believe Mr. Wheeler will
find he has located in a good place
to get auctioneer business.

mile southwest of Talala.
There was $75,000.00 paid out
to the Cherokees at Claremore
Weduesday of last week and
$67,000.00 paid out at Chelsea the
following day. Mrs. Belva Lock-
wood the noted Washington
woman lawyer and the only woman
who ever run for president of the
United States attended these pay-
ments. She is 80 years old.

cratic vctte for Congress in the
Third District gives: James S.
Davenport, 10,258, S. L. Johnson,
5.537, Campbell Russell, 4,495 K.
S. Kufcierson, S24. Davenport
carried all but two of the Counties
in the district. Davenport's plur-
ality over Johnson, 4701. Over
both Russell and Johnson, 206.
