recent heavy raines.

bill'visited with friends at Okarche
last Sunday.
Grass, wheat and oats are looking
One but the raines of last week did
considerable damage to the public
roads and the crops that just come
through.
Martha Loganbill has been on tbe
sick list this week.
The elty and country people have

building up the public roads last week.
They have put in two days instead of
only one day as tbey had first planned.
It would be well if such work could be
done at least once a year without fall.
J. O. Klrkhuff is still at Alva, paving
streets, but will get through in a few

Mrs. Bin* Neeley had over 400
chicks to hatch last week. BiDg has
built her a large new hen bouse and
she Is now busy in the chicken business
in full blaat.

Sadie Justice called on her aunt

The rains we have been having has
started every thing to growing again.
It wont he long until the farmers
will be cultivating their corn.
Mr. Dennises gave a few of tbe
young folks a dance last Tuesday
ulght.
Miss Grace Galloway's school closed
for this term Friday. The patrons of
tbe school all gathered in and gave the
teacher and pupils a grand surprise by
calling at the school house just about
tbe noon hour with well filled baskets,
after which the tables were spread ana
every one ate dinuer. In the after-
noon tbe program took place which
was enjoyed by all. The teacher gave
the pupils a vesy lovely treat, each one
was seperate in a neat little baket.
Miss Galloway also liad a treat for all
that.were their, eacn one left thinking
it was an afternoon well spent and
long to be remembered by all.
In about a week Miss Galloway and
her sister Zellma will leave for Cal. to
spend the summer months.
The dance at Will Crothers was well
attended Saturday night.
The farmers will soon half to do a
little good road work in this locality
from tbe looks of some of the roads as
it is nearly impassable in a few places.
Mr. Baker, Miller, Crothers and
families spent the afternoon with Mr.
and Mrs. Dennis Sunday.
Marvin Smith and wife spent the
evening with Mr. and Mrs. Miller
