Probably 125 so Far Certified to Dis-
trict Board for Service Will not
be Discharged. 450 in this Call
The local board for the administra-
tion of the selective service act be-
gan work this morning with physical
examinations of the first 150 men of
the second call as their day's work.
A like number will be examined Fri-
day and Saturday, and it is expected
that the second call will furnish
enough men to fill Washita county's
quota of 205 besides the ten per cent
reserve required.
Those notified to appear for exam-
ination today began coming in short-
ly after seven o'clock. The work of
handling 150 men each day will prob-
ably be done in slightly less time
than was needed during the examina-
tion of the men in the first call
One hundred and fifty-four men
have befn certified to the district
board as not exempted nor discharg-
ed. However, of this number, the
local board may recommend the dis-
charge of possibly twenty-five. In
the first examination, that number
were physically disqualified and made
no exemption claims.^ but when the
physical examination rules were
changed, they were recalled and then
passed the physical examination. At
the time they were recalled, it was
past the ten day limit of time in'
which they were allowed to file an
exemption claim, and since they did
not have a claim for exemption filed
with the board were certified to the
district board for military service.
The entire list of persons certified to
the district board follows:
