Do you want Quapaw to be a
cit of shacks? A city of two room
and tone room houses withdaylight
shining in between the walls?
- Investors if such they may be
called should be discouraged from
causing such places to be built
Homes rather than houses are
needed -
Two room houses as an invest-
ment built to rent like the razor
that was made to sell is fools gold
There is no investment and there
willbe no permanent returns
There is no doubt but that substan-
tial three and four room piaetered
houses will be built in larger num
ber When they are erected and
ready for occupancy who will rent
the shacks? Granted that'a few of
them will be rented But the rent
won’t be $1250 or $15 per month
and the per cent on the investment
will be about 3 per cent
One and two room houses for
renting purposes may be a get rich
scheme but its a boomerang
Zinc ore remained in fair demand
during the past week with prices
unchanged from what they were
for the preceding week The basis
range was $50 to $6750 with the
greater part of the ore bringing
around $55 1

have had an efTect bad it not been
that the earns day it was announced
one of the most important local

Origin of the Military
Salute
The military salute which some
of our soldiers and sailors are oc-
cas nally accused of omitting had
a curious origin if tradition is to be
oelieved It is said that it origin-
ated In the days of the tournament
at which a queen of beauty was
chosen to preside The knights
and their esquires and all who took
part in the tourney on presenting
themselves before the queen lifted
each a hand level with the brows
as though dazzled by the light of
her presence
