TIME 18 SHORT.
Those who di«w claim* in this coun-
try are now coming Id crowds to prove
their right to them and to establish
homes. Lawyers, doctors, bankers,
drug men, dry gnoda merchants, gro-
cers, farmers, and men in every avoca-
tion and pursuit In life, and by twos
abd threes tbey drop into ibe Gazette
office, subscribe for the paper and tell
us what they think of the country.
Invariably tbey have a good opinion
of It. In addition to tbis, they nesrly
all express surprise at the town thai
has been builded here. 1 Why, you
hare a good town," they say. "Yes,
sir," tbe Gax< tte man modestly replies.
Now there are a great many things we
don't know, but we do know that we
have a good country, that we also have
a good town that is daily growing bet-
ter, and in which you caa purchase
anything you may nted in ;he house or
on the firm. Busies: houses have
had the r gbt of way up until the lart
month, ana while there li no cessation
in building along that line, residence
houses—and good ones, too—are being
started every day. What If the wtnd
does blow and It does gel hot, etc.,
there are more nice days in this part of
your Uncle Sam's doman in every 30.5,
thSn in any state in the union. We
have more republicans than democrats,
which insures the safety of the country
and we have do tolored population.
Nobody is exceedingly rich and nobod)
distressingly poor. Take it all in all,
our citizenship is of the best, our mer-
chants are bustleis, our town the most
prosperous, and our country the most
productive in the world. If it rains a
good deal we raise a big crop of ever7*
thing, and if doesn't rain at all, Wash*
ita county raises a crop anyhow, and
we are only three miles south of tbe
line.

doubled in value. If you are going to
purchase city property, now is the ac-
