thut Claremore lum to dale outside of
Its Hiuliuiii water in itH new Athletic
building.
Storm sewers in one of the municipal
problems thut will Imve to be taken up
in the neur future. It in nil important
feuture in town building.
The town you live in in whut you be-
lieve it to be. If you believe it is a
good place to live in it in a good place
for you to live and others will be led to
the sume belief.
With the restriction* removed, con-
gress and the legislature off of our
hunds and the rains letting up there
should not be anything to mar existence
in the new state.
What Claremore needs more nt this
time than anything else ia confidence
and pride in the town. There is no
greater factor in town building than
town pride and enthusiasm.
If yuu are interested in making Clare-
more a larger and better city, be at the
meeting of the Chamber of Commerce
next Tuesday night and if you are not
already a member join the organization.
Much can be accomplished by united
work.
The start made by Secretary Lavey
in a campaign of advertising Radium
water in Kansas City should be follow-
ed up by demonstrations there. Pro-
gress believes in persistent and syste-
matic advertising and 110 better chance
will ever be offered to show what such
advertising will do than by following up
the good work already begun in Kansas
City.
The political pot has already com-
menced to boil over the congressional
nomination for this district, both in the
democratic and republicon parties.
Progress has very little interest in the
nominee of the republican party, for it
believes that the man named by the
democrats will be the next representa-
tive from this district. While several
able democrats are being mentioned
who are well qualified to represent this
district and would make strong candi-
dates under normal conditions, it would
appear to the Progress as if the logical
candidate at this time would be Con-
gressman Davenport. Mr. Davenport
last summer received the nomination
for congress in a field open to all, at a
time when it was not generally known
what the complexion of the district was,
he organized the district and succeeded
in carrying it by a good majority
against one of the most popular repub-
licans in the district. He made the
people promises in that campaign and
he has made good in keeping those
promises. There is not a single com-
plaint that he has not been faithful to
his trust and that he has not given his
best endeavors for the good of his con-
stiuents. His record is one that can be
endorred by every democrat and per-
sonal preferences for other candidates
should not stand in the way of a re-
nomination. The democrats cannot
afford to go into the campaign on the
record of refusing a renomination to a
member of congress who has served
but one session and has made good in
that.
eating republican doctrine since 1D03
the Statesman had either rested, slept
or died, and at one of these intervals
transferred all its subscriber* to the
Cluremore Messenger, the leading re-
publican paper of the county. And,
again, he forgot to tell us that he at
one time was the only competent "sin
ner" in Foyil who would confess re-
publicanism enough thut he could gel
the appointment under a carpetbug
administration as postmaster, in which
capacity he served a year or more. He
forgot to tell us about being the chair
man of all the scattering republican
doings around our town und lighting
our democratic cundidute to the con.
con. He forgot to tell us ubout get
ting the uppointinent of census enu
(iterator in their precinct, which no one
but a well truined republican had any
need of applying for, and then he for
got to tell us thut while he was enu-
merating the census he wits muking the
race un the republican ticket for justice
of the peace, and then he forgot to tell
us he got defeated. Now this muy look
like advocating true democracy to some
people, but Newsboy has u different
wuy of apprehending things. Now if
the Statesman wants to come over and
be u democrat here's to "It" the right
hand of christian fellowship, but we
would like to have seen it fessed up for
we do believe "an honest confession is
good for the soul." Newhiiuv.

days last week.

loads of cattle to Kansas City Tuesday.
They were line and should bring a good
price,
Mrs. Ben West had the misfortune of
burning her face badly a few days ugo.
We are pleused to know she is rapidly
improving.
The rain has been very regular. If
it misses in the day it sure rains at
night. We sympathize with our neigh-
bor town, Cluremore, in her damage.
Sequoyah only got one inch of water
Monday night when Claremore probably
got six inches. If the shower had been
divided neither town would have suffered
Our postmaster, Bert Bivins says his
time is not taken up altogether and for
a little out door exercise he chops weeds
for a change, anyway to keep Sequoyah
growing.
Sequoyah is practicing up for Chil-
dren's Day. Mrs. Tilley is seeing after
the training of the children. Anyone
one from Claremore that will come will
be royally entertained.

The election to decide "If we shall
build a brick school house" here
or not cainc off Tuenduy and it proved
to be all the program called for in the
wuy of excitement. It being the first
time the women hud a vote and they
were out in full force. Runners were
sent out fur ubuentees and they were
brought in buggies and afoot and in
some case* the runner brought in a
voter that voted the opposite direction
they were expected to. The proposition
to build carried by Ii4 to 42 against it.
Mrs. John P. Smith hud quite an ex-
citing time Monday morning with a
snake. She went into a tool house to
look after some young chickens early
in the morning and found several chick-
ens dead and a snake swallowing one.
She did not screum and run, but made
buttle then and there. Although the
snake fought back very forcibly, she
killed it. lie had eaten two of them
and had others ready for breakfast, It
was of u variety known as rattle snake
pilot, very similar to a rattler but lacka

Well, Newsboy didn't aim to "flus-

our highly esteemed Statesman when
we kindly asked him te come over on

laid off his sin stained garment and

were, he says, "Whooping 'er up for

Because It's for One Thing Only.
Nothing can be good for everything.
Doing one thing well brings success.
Doan's Kidney Pills doone thing only.
They cure sick kidneys.
They cure backache, every kidney ill.
Here is evidence to prove it.
Mrs. C. Floyd, wife of C. Floyd, car
inspector for the M. K. & T. railroad,
and living on East Houston street,
Muskogee, I.T., says: "Both my hus-
band and myself have used Doan's Kid-
ney Pills with most satisfactory results.
For a lung time I was troubled with
attacks of kidney complaint and infla-
mation of the bladder which greatly
disturbed my rest night* on account of
the too frequent action of the secretions,
and which was accompanied with pain.
I used numerous remedies but obtained
only relief for the time being. A lady
friend of mine told me of Doun's Kidney
Pills and so strongly urged me to try
them that I got a box. I was not disap-
pointed in the results obtained. They
went direct to the root of the disease
and I felt better after the first few doses,
and when I had taken them a short time
the pain in my back disappeared and
the action of the kidney secretions was
rendered normal and natural."

From Kansaa City Journal, June I.
The Chamber of Commerce of Clare
more, Oklahumu, Ita* offered to care
for a number of Kama* City children
free in order to demonstrate to the
people of the west that the noted min-
eral water* there have curative prop-
erties superior to any in the West. The
following letter was yesterday received
by Mayor Crittenden:
June 1, 1908.
Hon. T. T. Crittenden, Mayor, Kausaa
City, Mo.
Dear Sir: The fact has never been
extensively advertised, but at the city
of Claremore, Ok., there flows from
artesian well* the nto*t wonderful cura-
tive water yet discovered in the world
for the cure of all skin diseases of all
kinds, eczema, rheumatism and stomach
trouble. In every city in the United
States there are hundred* of poor chil-
dren suffering from skin diseases and
afflictions ol the eyes, whose live* are
torture and misery. The parents of
these children cannot afford to send
them to this watering place for treat-
ment, consequently, knowing the hun-
dreds of cures that have been perform-
ed by this wonderful water, the Cham-
ber of Commerce and the good women
of Claremore, Ok., desiring to relieve
the suffering of these little ones, make
you the following proposition:
Through the Young Women's Chris-
tian Association of Kansas City, the
Chamber of Commerce of Claremore,
Ok., desires that you select twenty poor
children, afflicted by any form of skin
disease, eczema, sore eyes, rheumatism
or stomach trouble, send them to Clare-
more, Ok., and the Chamber of Com-
merce and the good women of Clare-
more, Ok., will take care of them, see
that they are given every care and
treatment of this wonderful curative
water.
God, in Hi* infinite wisdom, having
sent us this wonderful curative, we
firmly believe that it is our duty to
place it at the disposal of as many of
the suffering and afflicted as possible.
It is our intention to make this same
offer to every large city in the United
States, and we reBpectfully request thot
you nlace this matter in the hand* of
the Young Women's Christian Associa-
tion of Kansas City and that they at the
earliest possible date make known to
the Chamber of Commerce at Clare-
more, Ok., their desires in co-operating
with us in this humane work. All we
ask is that the city sending these poor
children pay their railway fare between
their home city and Claremore, Ok.,
and return; the citizens of Claremoie
will do the rest.
Claremore, Ok., is on the main lines
of the Rock Island-Frisco railway sys-
tem and the Missouri Pacific-Iron Moun-
tain route direct from Kansas City. I
am, sir, your obedient servant,
P. C. Lavey,
Secretary Claremore Chamber of Com-
merce, Claremore, Ok.
