THE OKLAHOMA HISTORICAL SOCIETY
The Oklahoma Historical Society is a private membership organization and
state agency dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of Oklahoma's rich
heritage. Organized in 1893 by a group of territorial journalists, it has developed
into one of the largest and most innovative historical agencies in the country.
Today, the Society operates 27 museums and sites, publishes a wide variety of
historical journals, books, and brochures, encourages and assists historic preser-
vation, and maintains several renowned research libraries.
The Chronicles of Oklahoma, published quarterly by the Society, is distributed
to subscribers and all members of the Society. Each issue contains from four to
six historical articles, a wide variety of photographs and illustrations, book
reviews, and notes and documents relative to the preservation of our history.
Membership in the society is open to anyone who wants to share the excitement
and wonder of state and local history. Annual dues are $15.00 for individuals,
$10.00 for students and senior citizens, and $25.00 for a family, and includes a
subscription to The Chronicles and Mistletoe Leaves, the monthly newsletter of
the Society. Life memberships are $300. Institutions can subscribe to The Chroni-
cles for $25.00 a year; single copies cost $4.00 (plus $1.25 s/h for first copy and 25
cents for each additional copy). Membership applications and subscriptions
should be mailed to: Membership Coordinator, Oklahoma Historical Society,
Wiley Post Historical Building, 2100 N. Lincoln Blvd., Oklahoma City, OK 73105.
