EXAMINATION OF DRAFTED
BE STARTED HERE SATURDAY HORNING
Man
First 442 To Be Divided Into Three
Squads, First 147 Saturday, 147
Monday and 148 Tuesday.
BOARD HAS SENT NOTICE TO EACH ONE
Opinion of Many That It Will Require Examination of
About One Thousand Before Rogers County's
Quota of 221 is Obtained—Board is All
Ready to Begin the Work.
The first 442 younir men of the
county drawn for military duty un-
der the provisions of the selective
draft law, will be required to present
themselves to the county exemption
board as follows: The first 147, next
Saturday; the second 147 next Mon-
day, and the third 148 next Tuesday.
They are to report in three different
squads on the three different days as
mentioned.
The county exemption board met
early Monday morning of this week,
the master lists hafrinp arrived from
washington, D. C., Sunday, and im-
mediately began sending out orders
tor the young men drawn to report.
TTiis task was completed Wednesday
afternoon and at the present writing
all of the first 442 drawn have been
notified to appear before the board
for examination.
The county exemption board is
composed of Joe Chambers, county
r?*'?frrar' k' *e'and. county clerk,
Dr. W. A. Howard, of Chelsea, county
physician, while L)r. L. C. Presson, of
Collinsville, and Dr. J. F. Means, of
Claremore, have been appointed to 3-
w't^ the physical examination*.
The board is to meet in Joe Cham-
bers offices in this city. They .ire
located on Third street in the Camp-
KAII KIII'I/1 inra TI. _ 1— . _ • . •
dow onto Third street at all times
The examinations will begin at an
early hour each morning and continue
all day long, as many persons as pos-
sible to be examined throughout the
day.
Mr. Chambers says that persons
notified to appear before the board on
a specified day, should make provis-
ions before leaving home to be ab-
sent more than the one day, that they
may remain in the city another or two
more days in the event the board
does not get to them on the day set
for their examination.
After each person is examined the
time has then arrived for him to file
his exemption claim if he so desires.
He will then be presented with the
proper affidavits to prepare in sup-
port of his exemption claim by offici-
als of the local board. He is given
ten days in which to prepare the affi-
davits in support of his claim of ex-
emption after which they shall be re-
turned to the local board which shall
act upon them within three days af-
ter they have been returned. If no
exemption claim is made, those who
pass the examinations will then be
posted to the district board, which
convenes at Tulsa, for military ser-
vice.
