FRIDAY. JAN. 10. 1 13.
THE GOVERNOR AND THE CALLOWS.
Only laat week the citixen* of this
etate were horrified by the finding of a j w,„ e| eted Sunday School auperinten
little girl, named Delia Brown, aged 0
yean, who had been assaulted and then
beaten over the head with a stone until
her skull was crushed and who died a
ahort time after she was found, at
Keifer. And yet our governor is op-
poeed to hanging.
When the day of judgment dawns
and the great books are opened Mr.
Cruce will have many things to answei
for because of the stand he has taken
in regard to hanging. Is putting a
man, no, we shall not aay man, for one
who committed such a horrible crime
aa this one, is no man and does not de-
serve the name God give unto Adam--
sufficient punishment for such a crime?
He is a beast and should be hanged; but
the governor does not believe in hanging
dent and Ernest Shank aaaiatant super-
intendent.
