FIn* Showing.
Oklahoma City.—A reduction of
more than *50.00u In the state fire loss
from the month of January aud more
than 175,000 from the month of Feb-
ruary, is shown by the March report
of State Fire Marshal C. C. Ham-
monds.
The total damage from fires in all
part* of the state during the month
was $174,200.42, with 176 C53.00 to
buildings and 1994,547.42 to" contents.
Of the total amount $76,940 was the
toll of 23 fires of unknown origin.
Fourteen fires of Incendiary, or sup-
posed to be incendiary origin, caused
a loss of $27,050. The number of In-
cendiary fires during the month or
March decreased 25 per ceut from
February. In relation to fires from
this cause, the report says:
"This department lias prosecuted
many persons for arson, tires which
had been the result of malice. Dur-
ing the last week five persous have
been arrested for arson, three of
whom committed the crime through
malice whlle( two did it to secure In-
surance on buildings and contents."
The various county attorneys and
sheriffs of the state are rendering val-
uable services to the fire marshal's
department the report states, and it
is hoped eventually to bring the loss
from this source to the minimum.

London.—The executive committee

work by the miners throughout the
kingdom. This recommendation will
be taken under consideration at
conference of the whole federation on
Saturday. The decision was reached
notwithstanding, in a total vote of 445,

strike, 244,000 were against resump-

Malcontents in various districts are
arranaging to bold demonstrations in
protest against the executive con*

well received.
In Scotland Indications are that
there will be a general return to the
