Previous Prices Now Deeply Reduced
To Clear All Departments of
Winter Coods
While the weather-wise prediot that winter will Unger in the lap of spring, we
plan to positively prevent our winter stocks overlapping the arrival of spring
goods. Their complete olearanoe is the purpose of the mightiest merchandise
movement of this mid-winter month. The deeply reduoed prioes present pow-
erful reasons for your ready response to economy's most eminent event
Clearance as we plan permits no consideration of costs—goods get going-out
prices that you will greet gladly. Every department presents urgently under-
priced offerings on seasonable and satisfactory stocks.
The sale is held in acoord with our policy of carrying no goods over—what we
buy to sell this season must be sold this season. Thus every article of winter
merchandise now in this store is marked down to a point where its speedy
sale is assured.

INJUNCTION DISSOLVED.
An important decision was rendered
by Judge Brown of the district court
on the 28th instant, when he dissolved
the injunction nought restraining the
county commissioners from erecting a
bridge south of Claremore.
The commissioners should not have
interference from the court when they
are acting in accordance with law, and
Progress iB pleased|to note that Judge
Brown has untied their hands, and they
can now proceed with needed public
improvements.
We do not believe in government by
injunction, and it would be a sad state
of affairs indeed if every citizen who
felt aggrieved at the action of the
commissioners could rush into conrt
and secure an injunction. If this pre-
vailed, few improvements could be
made.
In the case in point it was alleged
that the citizens of Catoosa were de-
nied a hearing on a protest against
building a bridge at a certain point
This claim was misleading. It is a
notorious fact that they did have a
hearing before the commissioners—in
fact the hearing was held in the court
hou e in Claremore, and the confer-
ence lasted long enough to thresh the
whole matter over, and the statement
that a hearing was denied is more or
less unjust to the county commission-
ers, who are making every effort to
better conditions in this county.
We believe the commissioners are
doing their duty as they see it, and are
favoring no particular locality, but are
working for the general good, and we
hope the citizens of Rogers county
will realize this fact.
DISTRICT COURT.
On Friday Judge Brown adjourned
court until Monday, and practically all
of the out-of town lawyers, jurors,
witnesses and litigants went to their
several homes tp spend Chriatnua. All
showed up for business Monday morn-
a&sEXsrjstzs:
but fine.
Scores of esses were taken up and
disposed of, either on motion to con-
tinue or dismiss, or were given trials.
Some interesting cases came on for
Jf>al, notably the ease of Rev A. L,
Snyder of Wagoner, vs. Guv Rico of
Inola. This was an action for slander,
tawhich the plaintiff sought to recover
110,000 damages u a halm for his
lacerated feelings, occasioned by some
remarks which the defendant fa pur-
ported to have made regarding Urn
plaintiff's phjrsicial coSiUotT A
lady's mine was used in that connec-
tion and ti c evidence was somewhat
sensational. The jury awarded the
Pontiff *100 as . partial conoXtfao?

They never mentioned immunity.
Judge Brown told them that he was
sincerely pleased at the turn affaire
had taken and that he was highly in
accord with their resolution, and sin-
cerely hoped that all would work out
well, though he studiously avoided
making any concessions.
Vergil Oliver charged with larceny
of domestic animals, given jury trial,
verdict not guilty.
State vs. Tom Condry, same charge,
two cases. Hung jury in one case
snd continued as to the other
The grand jury appeared in court in
charge of a sworn bailiff and returned
40 true bills. These were mostly
booze and gambling cases. The grand
}ury was discharged, having returned
in all about 42 indictments.
Case of State vs. Alex Williams and
Joe Rollens, charged with robbery,
was ignored by the grand jury and
they were released.
A CHRISTMAS WEDDING.
Miss Myrtle Myers, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. E. D. Myers, of this city, and
Mr. Wayland W. Welch, of Oklahoma
City, were married in the parlor at the
Sequoyah on the evening of December
25th. It was a very quiet wedding,
only the immediate friends being pres-
ent. Rev. McDowell, of the Presbyter-
ian church, performed the ceremony,
the besutiful and impreasive ring ser-
vice being used and the room was hand-
somely decorated, the Chriatmas sea-
son suggesting the decorations, and af-
ter the wedaing ceremony and the
young couple hadreceived the congratu-
lations of relatives and frienda present,
the party retired to the dining room
where a coursedinner was served. Mr.
and Mrs. Welch left Sunday morning
for Oklahoma City where they wi
