J third suit against Pawnfee Bill, they 1 J
| had sued in Denver, Guthrie and in I ♦
A | this city , the Major, on advice of | ♦
• h,s counsel, Judge Bierer, of Outh
}l rie brought a counter suit against
tile printing company for $30,000
A malicious prosecution.
• : The council for the plaintiff,
W Adolpli Marx, of Chicago, had g<jt
nis wires crossed, and during the
I j case made many grave mistakes,
| nd upon seeing that he had 110
• j ground to stand on, Thursday night
9 j ''unted up the counsel for the de-
fenda.it, and the ca*e resulted in a
: compromise, out of court, the plain-
| iffs paying Pawnee Hill $3,000, as
well a* a I the costs in the cose. So
; instead of taking all the Major's
pioperly, buffalo, etc., as Mr. Mark
said he would do he was very glad
to compromise the case and slink
out of town.
The individual members of the
printing compuiy are a fine lot of
gentlemen and were entertained by
many of our best people. Major
Lillie strengthened his world-wide
reputation as an entertainer by giv-
ing a ranch dinner at which Will-
iam Oilman, vice-president of the
printing company, was the guest of
honor.
This case had attracted much at-
tention, and was being closely
watched by theatrical organizations
all over the country. The case hrd
been on trial two days when com-
promised,—Times Democrat, Paw-
