ITS A FACT.
In another column of this it-
sue you will seethe specialnotice
of an election to be held to decide
whether or not Blaine county
shall build a new $45,000 court
house.
Although we h ive only been a
resident of the county a short
time, we are convinced this is an
imposition on the tax payers.
According-to the report of the
county treasurer we now ^avean
indebtedness of $48 792, with
$19,848 91 now on hand for
county uses. This will leave us
$28,943 00 still unpaid; then add
the $45,000 asked for by the
county commissioners to build
this proposed court house and
the long suffering but ever pa-
tient tax payer has a grand total
of $73,943.09 bearing a snug lit-
tle interest, to be paid at his
1 iisure.
There is a good court house
no v standing at Watonga, built
ten or twelve years ago and re-
cently repaired at considerable
cost, which is big enough and
good enough for any humble ser-
vant of the people to transact
business in.
If our honorable county com-
miss:oners are itching to spend
. some of the people's money let
them pet to work on our roads
aud bridges, and we will all de-
prive more benefit with half the
expeU' e.
