VOLUME 20
XAMONT. GRANT COUNTY, OKLAHOMA NOVEMBER 23, 1922
NUMBER 44
At this writing: it is impossible to
give a complete outline of the vari-
ous display and entertainments to
take place in Lamont throughout
Poultry Show week, but on Monday
evening:, November 17, just the ev-
ening: before the Poultry Show op-
ens, the residents of the community
and all others who desire, are in-
vited to attend a big free program,
given at the Community Building
by the grade school. The an-
nouncement of this entertainment
will be found elsewhere in this is*
sue.
It is truly surprising the interest
that is being shown in regard "to
the Poultry Show, and by all prob-
ability there will be a much larger
display of poultry, eggs and pets at
the Lamont show than has been ex-
hibited at any time during the ex-
istence of the Grant County Poultry
Association. Many out-of-town in-
quiries regarding the Poultry Show
have been received by the Valley
News, which is proof that enthusi-
asm is running high. One, in par-
ticular, stated that he missed out
on the last show for the reason that
he failed to get the proper informa-
tion as to where and when it would
be held, and he stated that this
time the Organization could de-
pend upon him for at least two dis-
plays and possibly more. Several
of those interested have dropped
into the Valley News' office and se-
cured one of the Premium Lists
and catalog* books, which were
ready for delivery to the Secretary,
Geo. D. Walker, Tuesday noon.
This booklet contains 64 pages of
reading concerning the Poultry
Show and advertising from the
business men in every town in the
County, who not only used thespace
for its advertising value alone, but
done so for the purpose of making
the show a success. At this time
the Valley News has a number of
*.hese books at its office and while
they last, they can be had for the
asking; or, you may write Geo. D.
Walker, Secretary, Pond Creek,
Okla., and he will gladly mail you
a book without charge.
Elsewhere in this issue will be
found complete data concerning
niles and regulations, classes, etc.
In fact, everything of importance
pertaining to the Poultry Show- -
thus it will not be necessary for
Valley News readers to have one of
the books in order to be thoroughly
posted. It is rather lengthy, but
well worth reading, especially if
you are interested in the Poultry
Show and the raising of pure bred
poultry.
Most of the business men of La-
mont, who made this "Poultry Show
Edition" possible, done so \Vithout
solicitation, other than the state-
ment that was published in these
columns last week. They are all
boosters for the show and are an
xious that all visitors and home
people enjoy their hospitality, not
only during the five days of the
show, but ever after. The business
men of Lamont have always proven
themselves to be "live wires" when
it comes to catering to the public,
and many of them, as thi:; 'vr^r
will show, arc /illirig t
spend their t a,
money, for ^ _ .it.
the community at larpre and build-
ing up the town and their busincp-*
We ask our readers to notice the
and Community Fair
extra advertising in this issue and
thereby pick out the real, live com-
munity boosters—the ones who are
behind every public movement to
make it a success, and the ones who
are deserving of your patronage
for the simple reason that they are
always working for your welfare as
well as their own. They are the
ones who have made it possible to
hold a sort of Community Fair in
connection with the Poultry Show,
and besides offering prizes for the
Community Fair displays, they just
went a step farther and are also of-
fering individual prizes on the va-
rious breeds of chickens that will
be on display.
While the Community Fair, (on
account of the short notice,) will
not be as great as it could be, these
men will no doubt keep their shoul-
ders to the wheel, and possibly next
year will arrange for a Community
Fair that will put this section of
the County on the map, ahead of all
others.
The announcement and premium
list for the Community Fair will
be found elsewhere in this issue.
To Our Friends and Customers:
LAMONT is located in one of the best farming sections of the State of Oklahoma. Very
LAMONT
few communities in the State give as little attention to the pure breeding of
live stock and grains as does this particular section.
Something over 50,000 bushels of corn was raised during the year of 1922, by young men and women
of this State, competing for prises. Thousands of young men and women belong to pig and calf dubs over
the State, competing for prises along that line.
SHOULD BE REPRESENTED IN THIS WORK. IT IS NOT ONLY
INTERESTING BUT PROFITABLE.
We earnestly ask that you arrange to attend the GRANT COUNTY POULTRY SHOW, to be held
at the Lamont Community Hall from NOVEMBER 28th to DECEMBER 2nd, INCLUSIVELY.
If this show i. successful ft may footer better breeding of Bre stock and grains in this community,
which win no doubt be advantageous to the farmer asweUss business in general The success of the Show de-
pends upon the patronage and attendance.
