though she Is the unwitting cause of
it all, but when she looks as if she
wanted to be kissed there seems to
be no holding the men folks and the
young lady in question has had to
flee from ambitious gentlemen who
forget themselves more than once-
am sure I don't know why it Is," says
MissRay "but I can't help It, it isn't
my fault that people want to kiss
me for I know I have never encour-
aged a soul. Now you wouldn't try-
to kiss me would you, and she tried
the famous pucker on the reporter
who immediately turned tail and fled
out of the reach of temptation. This

1910. The cattle market last week
ended up in much better shape than
it looked the first of the week, and
early losses were almost entirely re-
gained on everything. Receipts drop-
ped off, and papers suddenly dlscov
ered that beef is about the cheapest
kind of meat going, and that it it-
having a big outlet on that account.
They have allowed the nctlon to
prevail that coolers were full, but
their buying lately does not bear this
out. Poultry and game are higher
priced than beef this time, and will
cut into meat sales less than usual
at Christmas time. Beef steers are
now down at figures that interest
exporters, who can operate at o
profit when slbod fnt steers can be
bought at >5.50 to >5.75- Eastern kil *
ers have been very active for some
time past, and the general complexion
of the cattle trade changed a goad
deal for the better last week. The
light run of 10.000 head here today,

Washington, D. C.( Dec. 10—In his
annual report which has just/been is-
sued, Secretary Ballinger of the in-
terior department, taking up the dis-
cussion of the Five Civilized Tribes,
ahowa the details incident to the
work necessary to be done in connec-
tion with the final setUement of af-
fairs of the Five Tribes.
There are now on the approved ron
10.965 Chickasaws, 26,730 Choctawa
18,716 Creeka, 3,122 Seminoles and 41.
716 Cherokees, a total of 101.239. By
an act of congress the rolls of these
tribes were finally closed Mch. 4, 190®
During the year the allotment of
land to all members of these tribes
has been practically completed and
there now remains to be sold or oth-
erwise disposed of the remaining un-
divided property and dlvlalon or tne
proceeds to individual citlsens of the
respective tribes. Before such csn be
finally accompliahed however, suits
before the United States supreme
court affecUng the right of enroll-
ment of about 5500 new born Chero-
kee#, who have been tentatively al-
lotted land must be disposed of.
There Is also pending In the court of
claims a suit by certain persons cla-
iming the right to be enrolled aa
Cherkoee freedmen.
In the Cherokee qatloa complete or
partial allotments have been made to
