In some of the county the mat-
ter of getting a man to dispense
the state booze has proven a
hard matter, and the agents for
the heap big bar-keep has had
to solicit an agent.
Wo respectfully call tho at-
tention of our liquor for medi-
cine democrat friends to the re-
solution* adopted by the modi-
oal socloty of Ottawa county.
Everyone who has followed the
prohibition movement and knows
anything of the experiments
along that line by the leading
medical societies and hospitals,
knows that tho prohibition teach-
ing is that mediclno would be as
well off, if not hotter, without
whiskey than with It. It is tho
old stand by gag to got a little
whiskey and doctors give it in
many casos, not bocauso they
really think it hotter than some
other rotnody, but because tho
patient will be satisfied with
nothing olse. The dispensary
foature is to bo a failure and will
not partake of tho nature of a
.state saloon, as it was intended
because the physicians of this
prohibition will not writo the
requisito number of prescrip
tions to koop up the blind. That
it Is intended for a beverage
and not medicino is evident from
tho fact that it man is allowed
two quarts of whiskey or three
gallons of malt liquor in a day
Any one who pretends to favor
liquor for medcino, knows this
crooked, bocauso oven in case
snako bite two quarts of
whiskey is a big bunch. Ilun
dreds are killed by whiskey to
every one saved, so why en
courage tho traffic?
Wo ndtlee tho question put to
smokers, "Did you ever aco a
blind man stuokey" Who
wants to be a blind man?
CiovernoV Haskell ud vises the
legislature to put off locating tho
ctate institutions as tho legisla-
ture has so much important bus-
iness to transact. Note that ono
of tho important measures this
week is a bill to make ninn foot
sheets to cover a person at both
onds.
Vandevonter has introduced a
bill to stop bank burglarly, but
seems the only sure thing would
be a return to the old U. S.
marshal system. Did you ever
notice that bank burglars did
not flourish in the Osage hills
and Cherokee Nation then?
Judge Slang, of the Logan
County Court, held that it was
not illegal for newspapors to
carry whiskey ads, holding that
the law does not PROHIBIT the
sale of liquor, but simply regu-
lates it This is the official in-
terpretation of the prohibition
law from the bench.

Now Sapulpa doubts the le-
gality of the city election held
there recently, and don't know
what to do. Well, why not do
like Claremore? Whatever the
outcome, it was the vote of the
people. Our republicans step
ped right down and out without
a hitch, although it would not be
a hard matter to find a num
ber of technical points to scrap
over.
There is one committee of the
board of alderman that can't get
busy too soon, and that i6 a sani
tary committee. Not only is
there mud holos whore water
has stood for months, but black
stinking mud and fever breed
ing pools not over a hundred
feet from Main street and some
right over a sanitary sower. Of
course it takes time to effect
changes from a cross-roads vil

more is first of all a health re
sort. Hot weather is coming
on, and stagnant pools aud un

would class with some of Mr.
Billup's pipe dreams.
In reference to Judge Ralph

Ine Messenger stated that it
had a preference for a new man
in tbia position, and still main-
tains that, but whether a new

fact istill remains that it should
be an eastern district man. The
eastern district of Oklahoma has
about as many good attorneys
who are qualified to fill the posi-

there would be no more excuse
for sending a man over from the
western side than there would
be from Arkansas or southern
Kansas. Home rale has grown
