spending the past two months in
Claremore, left last night on a lectur-
ing tour of the country.

speak at Pryor Creek on August 19th
and Hon. Jno. R. Thomas, of Musko-
gee, will speak on the 20th.
Mrs. Ollie M. Wardweli. Grand
Matron of Oklalioma, is visiting her
friend, Mrs. R. E. Curran, while at-
tending the Grand Chapter.
V. E. Wells, 'of Inola, spent Thurs-
day in Claremore. Mr. Wells had the
misfortune to crush a finger while
loading a piece of farm machinery last
Monday and Is suffering considerable
pain.
The dinner given by the ladies of
the North M. E. church on Wedtes-
day was well patronised, andthegutsts
pronounced the chicken-pie excell«nt.

Master Haggart of the Valley road
and Mrs. Sanders, both of Vian, are
the guests of Mrs. L. H. Eddy while
attending the Grand Chapter of the
Eastern Star.
The little daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Gladney was knocked down and
pawned by a vicious steer In the
vicinity of the Sanitarium one day
last week, but fortunately escaped
serious injury.

Dr. F. M. F.wing, of Terral, has
been attending the Masonic cere-
monies this week. Terral has in-
stalled a tank for fire protection, the
water for which is pumped by a
gasoline engine, and the plant is self-
sustaining.
Dr. G. M. Halley, of South Mc-
Alester, attended the meeting of the
Masonic Grand Lodge in Claremore
this week. Dr. Halley was bora a
Democrat and lias carried that hand!
cap through life, and yet tie is not a
bad sort of a fellow.
Mrs. M. B. Church, Mrs. Blue W.
Starr, and the Misses Annie Saplng
ton, Con Hicks and Rexy Spencer will
leave tomorrow for the World's Fair.

Adair and at Vinita by Mrs. D. Fair-

Dr. J. C. By num. whose coming was
announced in Tee Messsnoek two
weeks ago. arrived In Claremore last
Tuesday, and is looking for a suitable
home. Dr. Bynum Is from Stewaita-
vllle, Mo., where he had a large prac-
tice, but he decided to seek a larger
field, and has chosen Claremore, aa
the coming metropolis of the Cherokee
Nation.
Prof. B. A. Richter, Director of
Mualc In the Southwest Baptist Col-
lege at Jackson. Tenn., was in town
over Sunday and Monday calling on
his friends, the Bullette family and
Prof. Butler and wife. Mrs. Dr. Duck
worth graduated under Prof. Hiehter
at Lexlngtoa, Mo.; Prof. Butler waa
associated with him in the college at
Blackwell, Okla., and Mrs. Butler waa
his successor there. He took occasion
to speak very highly of Prof. Butler
and wife, saying that Claremore Is
very fortunate in securing them as
teachers.
Dr. H. H. Kaho, the "Mlmourl
who disposed of his
hen to Dr. Mooman
and left for Salt Lake City in May last,
returned this wesk and repurchased
his former oOoe. The old familiar
sign, "Missouri Painless Dentists,
will again grace the front of the
Davis-Bollng building, and Dr. Kaho
will receive hh friends with old-time
cordiality. Mrs. Kaho Is now In
Pittsburg, Kansas, but will Join her
husband here next week, and their
many friends la Claremore will gladly

his death was a shock to Mr. Church,
