Produce by Mail
We btve sn article handed us
for publication this week about
the parcels post law and in roast-
ing us about our views it states
that the farmer could send in their
produoe by mail. Now we would
like for our readers to just immag
ine a case of this kind.
Our rural oarrier would perhaps
have several cows, horses and
mules tied on his buggy, together
with coops full of chickens, tur-
keys and ducks. He would also
have to enlarge bio wagon to hold
butter tubs and egg cases and
nutke room for apples, potatoes
and cabbage and a dozen other
things that the farmer on his
route might waut to seud in.
, Also iramagine, dear reader,
that farmer Brown and farmer
! Smith had some fat hogs he
wanted to send to market what
would our rural carriers do with
them? And further where would
he find time to do all the shopping
for hiB many patrons on the routes
I suppose in a case of this kind
it would not matter about his be-
ing punotual in delivering the
mails just so Uncle Sam could do
their shopping, pay the freight
and deliver the goods to their
doors. Verilly this is a queer
world.
H. M. Holmes and wife made a
trip to Hallett and Terlton lsst
Monday.
Grandpa Look is reported very
seriously siok this week.
Grandma Redding is among the
list of siok folks of oar time.
Jim Book is on the siok list this
wsek. .
