The Pure Seed Law
As the moat of our readers
may know, the last legislature
at the regular session, passed a
pure seed law and this law is in
force now. All seed sold as seed
is to be tested for purity, per
cent of weed seed In it, vitality,
etc. This applies to seed sold
from the farm as well as from
the seed house. Anyone in Ok
lahoma may have seed tested free
by seudlug a sample to the A. &
M. College at Stillwater. You
may send four samples per mouth
for free testing. If you send
more than four a month, you
will have to pay 50c for every
sample more than four. Send to
Prof. M. A. Beeson, Stillwater,
Okla. This does not prevent
you from selliag. without test,
any kind of seed for feed, etc.
If you are interested in this law
send for a copy from the State
Board of Agriculture, Oklahoma
City.

The County Sale
The question on our farms now
is not more stock but BETTER
stock. Well bred stocn fattens
with less feed in shorter time
and brings more money in the
market than scrub stock does.
You do not necessarily become a
breeder of registered stock, but
you may breed up your stock and
get more out of the feed you put
into it. Or if you take pleasure
in fine stock, why not try a few
head? Al the fall sale a six
months old Shorthorn calf soldi
for $85 and an eight months old
calf sold lor $200. What are
you getting for your calves of
this age? And prices at the fall
sale were very moderate. Do
not worry about a market. Thir-
ty eight head of the forty three
Shorthorns sold at the fall sale
were bought by Blaine county
farmers. 23 of the 24 hogs sold
were taken by Blaine county buy-
ers. At this sale"Jack Courtney
sold a litter of eight 6 months
old durocs for $330. This was
not such a big figure for regis-
tered pigs, but still enough
money to allow him a good pro-
fit.
