WOMEN MUNITION WORKERS
ARE «HEERED BY Y. W. C. A.
J. L. Claflin and wife depart-
ed this morning in their auto for
their home at Lincoln, Neb., af-
ter a visit with Mr. and Mrs. A.
C. Stouffer. Mrs. Stouffer and
Mrs. Claflin are sisters.
"T can't sleep of nights for fear I
have overlooked a defective or inac-
curate part," exclaimed a girl inspec-
tor of torpedo parts, to the secretary
of the Young Women's Christian As-
sociation, who sought to improve her
living conditions. The conversation
was at a dormitory near an Ameri.
can munitions plant.
"In this plant are made many,
many torpedoes. I can't remember
how many pass, ia part, through my
hands for examination and rejection
f they are not perfect. I shudder to
think how many American lives
might be lost through my ignorance
or carelessness."
Cheered by ttoe secretary, and
brought back to normal, she returned
to her exacting work, no longer a
victim of "nerrss."
