John Simons and family were
here last week and sold their
farm to Vard Sturgeon They
went home Tuesday May and
Bell Clovis went with them They
live in the Ind Ter somewhere
east of Ponca City
The Ladies Aid Society of the
Baptist Church at Wildwood
will give a Valentine Social at
the home of Mrs Seth Edwards
on the Geo Turner farm Tues-
day night Feb 13 All are cor-
dially Invited to come and have a

- Jim Harris had a narrow escape
from getting his team or himself
killed by the train one day last
week while he was hauling sand
for J J Hughes He was driv-
ing two teams and the lead team
was just on the track when he
saw the train and saw that he
could not make it across in time
to escape By quickly swinging
the team around he got them
away just in time though he had
to go to Billy McDaniel’s near
where the incident happened for
some repairs before he could
proceed

of Mr and Mrs Quil Massey

Saturday evening Jan 20 1906
of pneumonia and spinal troubles
Funeral services conducted by
Rev Morgan were held in the
Christian Church Sunday at 3
o’clock after which the remains
were laid to rest in the cemetery
north of town
A vacant spot is left in their
home and the parents' hearts are
rent( with grief Leota was a
lovely child and they have the
sympathy of the entire communi-
ty in this bereavement
Statehood Bill Passes House
The Hamilton statehood bill
passed the House of Representa-
tives yesterday afternoon by a
vote of 194 to 150'
It is now thought that this bill
will be taken up by the Senate
next week There doesn’t seem
to be much doubt that it will pass
that body in due course of time
and the outlook now Is very fa-
vorable for Oklahoma soon to be
granted its long deserved rights
