Don’t expect that the people
will buy a gold brick from you as
quick as they will from a stranger
They are still after the poor
old "Equitable" the company
that spends the people’s money
to defeat the will of the people
The' Ames Enterprise is now
almost two years old and we
have not had to send a personal
dun to one of our subscribers yet
We hope the first one will not be

That canning factory proposi-
tion is something to think about
these days It will beat a hun-
dred dozen fourth-of-July celebrations
Some of our best citizens have
already expressed a willingness
to take stock in a canning factory
at this place Why doesn’t some-
body take hold of this thing and
see what can be done? It will do
more for our town than all the
school election fusses ever got up
The Wichita Eagle accuses
Kansas City of trying to compel
the Kansas railroads to discrimi-
nate against Kansas centers so
that this "Missouri octopus" may
submerge these centers or render
it impossible for them to supply
their own local field
Three years ago some of our
candidates for office tried to make
us believe that we didn’t want
the Indian Territory as a part of
our state' Things have changed
since then and now the people of
the Indian Territory do not want
Oklahoma to be a part of theft
state It is hard to understand
why the differences on this sub-
ject unless a part of the human
family are some relation to the
mule There is and never was
anything sane in the idea of mak-
ing two states out of Oklahoma
and the Indian Territory — it’s
either mulishness or insanity
PLEASANT GLADE ITEMS

An exchange tells of a new dis-
ease that is likely to be prevalent
in all parts of Oklahoma unless a
remedy can be discovered The
paper says: "The farmers of this
section are suffering from a new
disease which might be properly
labeled ‘jumpitis’ It is caused
from jumping up after the ears
growing on the tall corn this year
The sufferers get to jumping and
can’t stop Several have been
jumping up and down for days
and unless they get relief will
soon starve to death"
