TERMS: One Dollar Per -Year
Entered as second-class matter
Nov 7 1903 at the post office at
Ames Oklahoma under the Act
o£ Congress of March 3 1879
Some people will invest several
dollars in "booze because it
makes them think they're rich
but are afraid to give their home
paper a dollar for fear it will keep
them poor O how wise!
The editor has just finished a
$3250 job for Anderson And Co's
show He has done about $10
worth of other job work and gets
up all the type for the paper be-
sides rustling news etc It keeps
one hustling
Butler millionaire briber of
members of the Missouri Legis-
lature was acquitted because!
there was nobody testify against
Mm except men he had bribed
Such ought to be the very best of
witnesses At any rate they are
the'only ones there are
If the Czar and the Mikado
With their braggart and bravado
Would arm with sword and hand -
grenade and gun And defying
wind and weather Meet and fight
it out together A confounded lit -
tie damage would be done But
when lust for power is greedy It
arrays the poor and needy Who've
not a thing to kill each other for
And they fling themselves like
cattle In the bloody ditch of bat-
tle — Ah! the Devil is the arbiter
of war!
Ames is still feeling the good
effects of a big crop last year
Farmers are still bringing in
load after load of wheat and
those who have no wheat have
corn and hogs and there seems
to be no decline in the amount of
business done as there usually is
at this time of year There is
another thing noticable: There
are more people coming to Ames
to do their trading than formerly
The business people here are put-
ting forth effort to induce the peo-
ple to come here to trade and
their efforts are being rewarded
Only those who are not capable
of seeing can predict any but a
favorable future for our little
town
