Oklahoma Twelfth In Wealth.
Twelfth in the forty-eight states of
the union—that Is the position Okla-
homa will occupy after June 30 with
respect to the total of income tax re-
turns. according to a statement by
Hubert L. Bolen, United States col-
lector of Internal revenue for this dis-
trict.
He estimates that an increase of
200 per cent over the returns of 1915
will be shown when all the tax has
been collected. A year.ago Oklahoma
stood twenty-fourth in the United
States, with $133,000 in personal and
$263,000 in corporation income taxes.
An increase of 200 per cent would
mean that $888,000 would be paid to
the United States government this
year by people and corporations liv-
ing in Oklahoma.
Oklahoma's prosperity is Indicated
in the promptness which Oklahomans
are paying their taxes to Uncle Sam.
