We are authorized to announce
the candidacy of Bert R. Willis
for the nomination for the office
of County Treasurer of Blaine
County subject to the will of the
Democrats of Blaine county.
COUNTY ATTORNBY.
j. o. Wirrington" announces
his candidacy for the nomina*
for the office of County Attorney
of Blaine county, subject to the
prill of the Democrats at the
primary election.
SHERIFF.
1 hereby announce myself as a
candidate for reelection to the
office of Sheriff, subject to the
decision of the Republican voters
at the primaries on|August 4th,
1914.
Lee A. Akin
Little "Tommy" Horner
Sat in a corner,
Eating a big hunk of pie;
He stuck in his thumb
And yanked out a plum
And said: "What great "repub'
am I!"
Bishop of the Cleo Cheiftain
has joined Tommy Fergoosing
in waving the "dirty shirt,' and
trving to make people believe
the late civil war is not yet over
by taking a lick at Preacher
McConnell. Bishop is another of
tSrt G O. P. pie-counter brigade
who has received "plums"
straight from the republican
party" these many years and
flaunts the same old dirty shirt
to distract the votersj attention
and lose sight of the issues of
the day so as to "beat the dem-
ocrats." Has Bishop the same
identical "principles" as has
Tommy?
Tommy Ferguson says he was
not removed from the office of
Governor by Teddy. SO? Are
you still governor, Tommy. Or
did you just resign by request or
quit because your pay stopped,
or are you still governor and
working for "principle" only.
Your wheels are surely "clegged"
Tommy. We never said any-
thing about any "charges," why
do you mention it, little one.
Tommy also accused the Record
of "selling out" to the Democrats:.
Isn't it strange how some people
always measure other people's
corn in their own half bushel.
In accusing us he only proves
that he would do that very thing
himself—for "principle" of course
Why has Tommy been making
love to the leaders of one wing
of the democrat party in Blaine
county far several years? For
"principle." Now gentle reader
lest ye forget, the definition of
Tommy's "principle:" Elect two
republican commissioners so that
Tommy can get the county print-
ing." Plain enough, is it not?
Naturally a man living on this
principle fot twenty years would
grow very thin and worry muchly
lor fear of losing his "principle"
Tommy seems to be so worried
for fear he will lose his "princi-
ple that he is getting very sad
and seems to think it a sin to
laugh as he says: ,,Again Daffy
Mac waxed funny, said some«
thing cute, laughed at it him-
self, as he always does,44 etc.
Pardon our laughing. Tommy
for we did not realize, untill you
spoke, how bad yon feel. But
we are not too stingy to laugh
when we feel like aud we often
feel like it, especially when we
set you squirm when anybody
says "denocrat"or "progressive"
horrible thought! Tommy says
he always got his plums
"straight from the republican
bush." but failed to state how
many plums he had seceived in
the past twenty years although
he is Sure arid tells his readers
that we got 351 plums from the
democrats. Did you get as
much each year, Tommo. If so,
in twenty years you have received
7020 plums. But Tommy we are
of the opinion that 7020 does
not spell half of it nor a third of
it. Multiply by three and you
get 21,060 nice, fat, juicy plums
and we hardly believe that
amount will cover it. Now
Tommy, as an interesting news
item and example of state
economy, get the records and
give your readers the actual
figures. You have received so
much at the hands of the G. O.
P. that you should issue a
financial statement so that they
can judge whether or not you are
worth the plums which you have
received as you say "straight
from the Republican bush." *
Tommy accuses us of starting
the Bull Moose party. Thank
you for the compliment, but the
Bull Moose party was "borned"
by the RANK AND FILE OF
THE REPUBLICAN PARTY
where they became disgusted
with the rotten conditions that
had grown for years and reached
a condition that the rank and
file held their noses and with-
drew. The Record man did not
ask for the job of chairman of
the progressive county committee
and is perfectly willing to resign
and let someone else fill the
office. We are not used to office,
Tommy. We have always been
part of the "rank and file."
Tommy says: "Daffy Mac has
sold himself to the Democrats
and they own him from the
tacks in his shoes to the top of
his head. "Daffy Mac supported
Tommy when he was running
for confcress. The "rank and
file" of the party was for him.
Who was it that defeated him
here in his own county. Some
of the very same individules who
are now such strong stand-patters
The rank and file who were for
Tommy are by a large majority
in the progressive ranks and
Tommy seems to take special
delight in throwing slurs at his
friends in "time of trial" by
ridiculing them for belonging to |
the "Bull Moose Side Show." !
Tommy should get a job in the
republican side show as the fat
lady who was fattened on plums.
But whatever good Tommy
has done for the republicans in
Blaine county the past twenty
years (paid for in plums), he is
now driving them away by his
silly twaddle about "Bull Moose
Side Show" for every slur he
casts makes a wound on the
hearts of the honest voters who
formerly belomged to the Re-
publican party but are now in
the solid ranks of the Progressive
Party.
Better cut it out, Tommy,
and write another "heavy editor-
ial" about McConnell and get
another piece of hide peeled off.
