DISTRICT JUDGE.
Thomas A Edwards announces
his candidacy for the nomina-
tion for the office of District
Judge, 17th district, subject to
the decision of the Democrats at
the primary election.
COUNTY TKEASUKBK.
We are authorized to announce
the candidacy of Bert R. Willis
for the nomination for the office
of County Treasurer of Blaine
County subject to the will of the
Democrats of Blaine county.
COUNTY ATTORNBY.
J. O. Warrington announces
his candidacy for the nomina-
for the office of County Attorney
of Blaine county, subject to the
will of the Democrats at the
primary election.
Progressives candidates an
flouncing for the different state
offices shows to the public they
have hope and confidence of
carrying Oklahoma this fall and
gives a tone to the party in this
state it has never had before and
a close campaign is an assured
thing.—Tuttle Times.
We are glad to see that J. W.
Speake ©f Chickasha has an-
nounced for clerk of the court on
the Progressive ticket, as he is
well qualified for the office for
which he seeks, and it shows his
fmiiit in Oklahoma Progressives
to win in the coming election.
We are with you, J. W.—Tuttle
Times.
The Shawnee Sentinel says the
opportunity of a life time is be-
fore the republican party. Now
what do you think of that? A
party in power for practically a
"half century and to meet the
opportunity of its life time dur-
ing the first year of a real demo-
cratic administration.—Sallisaw
Star-Gazette.
There is no such party as Pro-
gressive-Republican party and
there is no such party as Prp-
gressive-Democrat party and
therefore there are no progres-
sive-Republicans or progressive-
Democrats in reality. There is
a Progressive party and all gen-
uine progressives from the old
parties have come and aae com-
ing into the new party.
Attorney C. F. Dyer of Geary
was in the city Monday on legal
business. While here he was
asked if the report that he was a
candidate for attorney general
on ithe Progressive ticket was
true and his reply was that un-
like the republicans the Progres-
sives were not seeking office and
only on the party drafting the
candidates for the different offices
would the name be placed on the
ballot. He says that the Pio-
gressives are working for prin-
ciples and not for the spoils of
office.—Watonga Herald.
Some of the standpat republi-
cans are accusing the Progres-
sive party of being made up of
many democrats. We admit the
charge. There are thousands of
democrats who have joined the
Progressive party and more of
them our coming our ranks.
The Progressive partv welcomes
them with open ,;trnis. A good
progressive democrat is as good
every time as is a progressive re-
publican, whose eyes have been
opened to the fact that the Pro-
gressive party is the only one
that can accomplish the most
good for the people of Okla-
homa.—Avard Tribune.
The Avard Tribune says:
"The professional politicians
hate us and we are glad of it.
We are not catering to the bosses
and peanut politicians." That
snake bit Andv, too, Bro.
Thompson. If that gang didn't
cuss us we'd feel like we hadn't
been doing our duty by the
people and would expect them to
cuss, and we'd deserve it too.—
Tuttle Times.
Hon. E K. Persons of Chicka-
sha has announced for congress
from this, the 6tn, district on
the Progressive ticket. To say
that he will get the nominatio>
we do not know who or how
many will oppose him for that
honor, but we will say that we
know him to be honest and a
Progressive and we will support
him against the field, and if he
gets the nomination he has a
fine chance of being elected.—
Tuttle Times.
It appears that the Watonga
Republican is having consider-
able to say against Hickam at
this timev Two years ago the
Republican had the following:
"Hon. John P. Hickam was
formerly a member i|i the upper
house in the Territorial legisla-
ture. Hickam is no stranger
in this part of the state having
campaigned the second congres-
sional district for the republican
ticket in 1907. His speeches
were able and did the'party good
service wherever he spoke. He
is a forceful speaker and stands
for the things that are good in
politics and public service."
What's the matter, T\om? Why
the change of heart. Are the
wheels in your upper story run-
ning backward?

met the visiting boosters at the
Commercial Hotel where they
were guests, and after a general
discussion it was decided to have
a committee from Canton and
Seiling to map a route between
these two points and Watonga

boosters:

A member of the Providence bar
one day met an able and conscientious
judge on the street and said to him:
"I see, Judge, that the supreme
court has overruled you in the case
of A versus Z, but you need feel Ho
concern about your reputation."
"No, indeed," answered the judge
complacently: "I don't. I'm only con-
cerned about the reputation of the
supreme court."—Llpptncott's Maga-
zine.

"Yes," said the retired insurance
agent. "I once got a man to take out a
$50,000 life policy only the day before
he was killed, and it took a lot of coax-
ing to do it."
"Gosh! that was tough on the com-
pany. I expect you wished your per-

"Well, hardly. You see, I married
