Carol Singers Of
Methodist Church
Sang On Xmas Eve
Those of you who were lucky enough
to place a candle in your window on
Christmas Eve were treated with
beautiful choral music in the form of
Christmas carols The young people
of the Methodist Church (who call
themselves Epworth Leaguers) Jour-
neyed up and down the streets of
Shattuck on a truck singing wherever
there was a lighted candle in the
window
Mr Bradbury drove the truck for
the singers who had for accompaniment
an old fashioned foot pumping organ
The organ was mounted on the truck
boys and girls piled on and a merry
evening was had by both the singers
and those who heard the carols Mrs
Fleming played the organ for the
young Methodists
At the conclusion of the carol sing'
ing a party was held at the church
where Miss Mary Vivian Bradbury
acted as hostess “Battleship'’ which
is a new game at the University of
Oklahoma (Where Miss Bradbury is
attending college) Was played and
huge delicious popcorn balls were ser-
ved If you missed the music and are
sorry why Just remember to place the
lighted candle in the window NEXT

Skeleton Unearthed On Kraft Farm
West Of Shattuck May Be Indian
The finding of a skeleton on the
Adam Kraft farm west of Shattuck
recently has caused considerable com-
ment among the pioneers of Shattuck
and vicinity
It is tire belief the skeleton is thnt
of an Indian as some articles found
are such as worn by Indians such as
beads and parts of garments usually
worn by the Indians The absence of
the flint arrow heads or metal in-
struments brings a different idea
The skeleton was found under cliff
by some boys who had been trapping
and thought they had a “coon” treed
under the cliff and started digging
They unearthed parts of the skeleton
Only a few bones were discovered
The skull and parts of the vertrabra
and small bones of the foot or hand
and possibly some larger bones
It is not deflnately decided if the
skeleton found is that of an Indian
or that of an out-law or still dating
back further The place where the
skeleton was found is not a likely
place where Indians bury their dead
The absence of flint or metal in-
struments does not correspond with
the Indian The absence of fire arms
and the presence of “Punk” would
lead one to believe the person dated
back further than the Indian
A careful study of the surroundings
would lead one to believe the skeleton
might have been an outlaw or one
of the earlier people than the Indians
of which there is evidence that such
people were dwellers of the plains
preceding the American Indian How-

CHRISTMAS WEATHER:
Weather condition during the Christ-
mas was ideal warm and more spring-
like than Christmas Feople were about
in the spring garments The weatfcer
would indicate the fishing season was
here and the hunting season had pas-
sed The usual Christmas snow wits
not present this year The roads were-
in excellent condition and hundred?
of people enjoyed driving end spend-
ing the Christmas with friends and
relatives in other part of the state

visited in Oklahoma and in Shattuck

Christmas programs throught out
the city and country were all well st-

account of bad weather
Old Santa visited every nook and
corner on his annual visit and no one
was disappointed although there wa s
no snow for his mode of travel he
managed ti make each stop on sche-
dule timer
Oklalfoma weather specially in the
Shattuck locality is a most favorable
climate and a good place to live The
slogan which is so well advetised
Shattuck is a Good Town” is not
quoated the farming and the climatic-
conditions will back this up
In many of the yards the grass has
began to grow and the early flowers
are shooting forth their buds and
show signs of beginning to leaf out
