ORCHESTRA TO
GIVE CONCERT
AT METHODIST CHURCH ON
SUNDAY NIGHT NO
CHARGE
In behalf of every citizen of Shat-
there will be held In the auditorium
of the Methodist Church this coming
Sunday night at 7:30 P M a complete
musical concert Music will be furnish-
ed by an orchestra of Shattuck musi-
cians who will play under the able
direction of Mr Edgar Johns
This orchestra which has played a
number of times before appreciative
local audiences has received a supply
of new and beautiful music which
is being rehearsed for playing on Sun-
day night It is expected that a num-
ber of young musicians who have
been away to college will be among
the number who will play at the
church
Music will be furnished entirely free
of cost so that no admission will be
charged at the door Members of the
orchestra say that they are glad to
give their talents to others and in ex-
pression of gratitude for this spirit of
unselfish service it is hoped that 'a
large number of Shattuck people will
be able to attend
Rev Fleming urges that everyone
who has no definite plans in mind
for this coming Sunday evening to
come to the concert He is of the
opinion that they will deeply enjoy
themselves and profit greatly by going
“Even If you have made plans to
spend the evening somewhere” says
Rev Fleming “Wouldn’t It be fitting
to change them and come to the con-
cert? There will be plenty of nice warm
heat and you will feel better for hav-
ing gone to church the last Sunday
night of the old year

XMAS CAROLS
THOR NIGHT
BY LEAGUERS
A LIGHT IN THE WINDOW
SIGNAL FOR LEAGUERS
TO SING
How would you like to have a
Christmas concert right on your very
doorstep on Christmas Eve? This win
be made possible on Thursday night
(tonight) by the young people of the
Methodist Church Their organization
called the Epworth League has se-
cured a truck from the Ford garage
upon which they will place an organ
Leaguers will ride on the truck up and
down the streets of Shattuck singing
Christmas carols
If you want them to stop at your
house and have them sing you a beau-
tiful Christmas hymn you must have
a lighted candle burlng in the window
The singing of Carols will not start
until 9:00 o'clock P M since other
programs will In process before
then
It is hoped that the singers will be
able to sing for each family that de-
sires the carols to stop Preference
however will be shown to the homes
of individuals who are unable to at-
tend a Christmas program because of
age or other conditions
The singers will probably be able to
sing on only the streets of Shattuck
which have a number of houses since
there will hardly be time to venture
out Into the country They will try to
stop at your house if you have a light-
ed candle in the window If you wish
to be sine that they come you may
send word to Rev Fleming who will
see that the carolers stop at your place
The singing of Christmas carols la
an ancient and beautiful cos tom Long
ago in the old country singing min-
strels used to walk along the streets
singing Christmas carols proclaiming
the spirit of Christmas and goodlwiU
to all men In what more fitting way
could the true Spirit of Christmas be
expressed than this?
Remember the signal a burning
candle In the window after 9:00 P M
on Christmas eve
